Introduction of Vera Audio Coherence 12 - a high quality speaker many can afford

that's not a fix.. that's like going to a doctor and saying your arm hurts when you bend it. and the doctor says solution: don't bend your arm :P
 
Thanks … you are referring to Fusion malfunction with higher sample rate? In fact I have had this issue with my Fusions. Driving direct digital with SPDIF (coax) from Wiim Pro to Fusion SPDIF in to master the slave has issues to lock on bitstream if I set Wiim output sample rate to >48khz. So 96 and 192 is fully unusable. Not that 44/48 vs 96/192 is even audible, but a bit annoying nonetheless

I discovered this is issue and how to resolve via a web search …

It's been a while since we tested this. It's possible this was the reason. Either way, using coax solves it.
 
We're made an oversight of the different DSP options. Any comments to how this is presented?

Hi Bjorn, your table leads to the impression that the Hypex FA252 does not support FIR filters which is wrong. With firmware 5.7 up to 4.500 taps are possible.

This also means, if you allow me this comment, that your x-over for the Hypex version should ideally be updated to a linear phase version. Competitors provide minimum and linear phase versions on different presets - I think this is a great solution to cover both minimum latency and linear phase requirements.

Thanks … So you have no signal lock (clocking) issues even running Wiim at 96 or 192 rate? Why would coax vs optical make any difference in this aspect?

4500 taps are on the inputs. It's 1500 on outputs and needs to be exactly 1500 with 93750 Hz. But I'll check and see if we can actually implement a decent FIR for crossovers with that number. The 4500 taps on inputs can't be divided by the way. Unless Hypex has updated something quite recently, one has to use repectively and exactly 4500 for inputs and 1500 for outputs.

I certainly agree that it's best to use FIR and linear phase. That's an audible difference with the Coherence 12 speaker.

Will change the information on the website for now, and see what can be done with the FIR. Thank you.

It's been a while since I tested this and can't remember the details. I simply remember coax worked with all hirez files while optical didn't. At that time, I thought it wad related to my Wiim unit alone.

Small update on the Coherence 12:
the version with built-in amplification has been upgraded from the Hypex FA252 to the FA502 – doubling the amplifier power to 2×500W per speaker.

The price increase is modest compared to the amplifier upgrade (the FA502 module costs considerably more than the FA252), and per-finish pricing is now listed on the product page. The first production batch is being built as we write this – happy to answer any questions.

Haha. Picture is misleading. It isn't that big. If we had chosen a bass reflex, it could have ended up almost twice the size.

The full size grille is somewhat challenging because the cabinet is curved where it's attached. So we need to perform various tests with it now.

Here are pictures of the grille with matte walnut veneer finish. It's attached by magnets.
