Introducing the Phono Cartridge Measurement Library

I just bought this cartridge. It's strange that the same stylus with a Shure M111E body has a higher peak than with an RXP3 body. I'll have to measure the cartridges' inductance. I use the Waxwing as a line-in DSP with a Tag McLaren PPA20, so I'll try to correct the peak on the Waxwing as a last resort. Do you think I have a capacitance problem or something else?

I have a McLaren PPA20 and a Waxwing DSP connected to it in line-in mode. Do you think it would be better to adjust the graph by C and R on the PPA20, or use the DSP in the Waxwing? If you could explain why I'd be grateful. Thank you and best regards.

If you have the waxwing you can fix most of it there. With the PPA20 you would need loading plugs.

Thank You, i have loading plugs to connect them to RCA inputs. My questions is: which way is better and why ?

EQ is more flexible; loading has limits what it can do. So in practice EQ is better option.

But for this particular thread and cartridge database. it is advised to show the results with recommended loading and optionally with a "optimum load".

I really think this is the best value out there today in terms of price and performance, assuming you can find the necessary cartridge body.

Very flat, very low distortion, and excellent crosstalk :) a great sounding cartridge!

Oh, this measurement was taken using the original JVC TRS-1007 that I recently acquired.

I also increased the capacitance.

Ah ok. Interesting to note the difference in crosstalk. Start to think that the CA TRS1007 is an odd one.

Sony XL-50 JICO SAS/B

This one is quite disappointing. I will have to play with the shims, as the cantilever angle looks even higher than typical SAS.
