Hi there!

I'm Beat Conradín, livin' @ Canary Islands and love Music, quite all kind of it.

For the last 15 Years ive listening to a pair of Yamaha HS80 Studio monitors hooked to a Allan&Heath ZED 10 Board. The sources are a TV and two Smartphones. Samsung Galaxy S24 ultra and a Huawei P30 pro witch all are connected over the famous an' well feeded S.M.S.L SU-1. Since the use of this tiny Chinese guy that gear sounds great. In my opinion.

but

Now i'm on the hunt of a complete new System.
May my idea seems to the one or the other a bit weird.
Here i explain of what i was thinking:

First Home Cinema in the Bedroom witch will consist of Onkyo TX-RZ30 AV (with addicional Amp's if needed - somethin' like Fosi's V3), two Pairs of Magnat Monitor S10D (dipoles) for the surround and the ceiling and as center the Focal Alpha Twin Evo Monitor.
What my only struggle consists of is to find some Floorstanders to fit into this system.
What y urgently need is the port for the bass reflex must be downfiring or to the front because the speakers will have to be quite close to the wall.

Now i have the trouble overhere there's no Audiophile Shop. Not one where i may listen to speakers.
That's why i'm asking you folks because the most of you may are familiar to defined listening. What speakers do you think will fit in my hearing experience after 15 years with the Yamaha HS80's?

I was thinking of Wharfedales 5.4, Focal Theva Nr 3, Triangle Borea BR09 or Antal - somewhat in the price category below € 2000.-

Any suggestions?

... the Yamaha's will moved to another room and being used as Zone 2

Greetings from NY! I dont have any specific recs but you came to the right place. Lots of smart folks here and they will save you a lot of money by avoiding snake oil type products etc

Welcome to ASR!
Can't you run over to the stereo shop in beautiful downtown Casablanca to audition speakers?
I'm not familiar with any of the speakers you have or are considering, so I can't make any suggestions as to what you might like
In your price range I would probably suggest a pair of KEF Q11 metas, but if you intend to listen from bed you will likely need to elevate them to keep the coaxial tweeter/midrange clear from obstruction

Given that you likely have a difficult time listening to speakers, your best bet would be to choose something that has been measured and then posted to spinorama.org. Lots of people here happy to help out with understanding the data on that site if you need it. Here's a list of floorstanders, with per-speaker price <=$1250. The top five stand out to me as good choices. https://www.spinorama.org/scores.ht...1000&priceMax=1250&page=1&shape=floorstanders

;-) NY - oh i have friends livin' nearby but do not recall the town name.

Nice - thanks for answering! That's why i finally registered one account here on that forum. Hoping
a) here i'll find some guys who may understand my ideas
b) who may can process the listening into understandable word's
c) all this without any voodoo

Saludos from the sunny island

The thing with me being afraid of using Airplanes is - i don't fly. And have no boat ;)

Y already thought about elevating the speakers, that's a good idea.
What y was looking for is something sounding more or less as analytic as the Yamaha's do.

THX! I'll check it out.

Do you mean pair or one for 2000 Euro?

Do you have some local bulletin boards to check? It may help both ways: save money and listen before purchase.

I don't think Yamaha's studio monitors sound worth reproduction as AV system front speakers.
If you are listening near-filed for 15 year anything else will sound way less precise, room reflections will impact of what are you listening to a lot.

Some speakers (like older Kef Q750 etc) has front-firing passive radiator, could improve your situation, but it does not totally eliminate a need for a space in the room.

Hi l_lama
Thanx for replying!
That's exactly what i'm "afraid" of. The difference in between the Yamaha's and actual HiFi Speakers. But - if y really want to set up the Home Cinema y will have to take that step. They will sill be in another room, for listening "the old way" in my case.

Due to the fact of the limitations overhere your very good idea doesn't help much. Clearly i'm watching those. The bulletin boards here bring extremely poor offerings in quality HiFi and the journeys to the other islands always take minimum one day by ferry. ebay isn't a choice because the offerings there are mainly mainland Spain - and most of the dealers do not send to the Canary islands doe to our weird tax situation.. I avoid flying because that's causing me tremendous horror.
But i'll not will give up - may nowdays, after christmas and Reyes there will appear some gear.

I was thinking to spend around € 2000 per pair.

There's may another solution: why do you think, the Yamaha's or perhaps a pair of Focal Alpha 80 ain't do the job? The room is 11.5 square meters = 37.8 square feet. The ceiling comes up to 2.5 meters = 8.20 feet height.

Near-field monitors purposed to provide quality sound on smaller distance to single pair of ear in the sweet spot. The sound outside could be better or worse. Getting a pair of monitors for evaluation could be the way, if you want to bother with it.

Same as passive speakers, the monitors still may need some rear clearance for bass reflex.
If you already have the receiver, you can try with your Yamahas and let us if you are missing something in this combo.

Speaking of Wharfedale, probably you may not need floorstandes for 12sqm room, did you had a look at EVO 4.2 or EVO 5.2 ?

This i understand well. The actual Situation in my listening room is, the Yamaha's stand about two meter's from each other and my sweet spot is two and a half meter away. And yes, i'm experimenting alot with the distance from the wall. Actually that's only 15 centimeters and work well. But i sometimes listen to them on a chair witch stands exactly in the line of the right one and can hear everything very good, it seems the same experience as sitting in a concert on the right side. I have a tremendous sound stage and separation of instruments as well as clarity an precise translation. Even on very low db's en between 40 and 60. Made an experiment with classic Spanish guitar today - very impressive ;-) Never tried that before. Ok, havin' 65 years now it may not the real "measurement" circumstance. Whatsoever, only my ears will have to be satisfied so far. ;-)

The AVR i do not have already doe supply problems. But - it will be probably possible to hear (and may try at home) the Focal Monitor 50 or 65 due one professional music instruments and gear store sells them. Well see. I will inform you.

Of sure i thought about the Wharfedales 4.1/2 or the 5es. And guess what, the brand has a service station on the islands.

movin' forward, step by step.

Now i will watch the Madrid derby - already missed the fist Goal! Minute 1.5 for Real .-...

I'm new here too. Greetings from Castilla-La Mancha, my fellow countryman.
