Haven't heard it since the 1970s but used to be a California health food eatery quip: "Breath-airians eat for free."

There was a well documented case in 2017 in the Netherlands where a combination of this believe and peer pressure on somebody who was (too) easy to influence became fatal. And in general, eating disorders are way too easy to trigger. I decided for myself that if nonsense can become deadly, I will not let them pass.
