Interface interference

Hi....I've currently been using an older interface with logic pro with no issues for the first few days, it then started causing the orange mic emblem to flicker and also send sound interference to my headphones.....this started by its self and wasn't caused by changing any setting's.....after a time if kept turning things on and off and shutting down it stopped....allowing me to continue, after an hour or two its back, i then left it a few days and next time i powered it all up it was fine...worked for a couple of days without a hitch....then suddenly its started again inbetween takes its just took it upon itself unplugging mics or cables does nothing....only when the interface is unplugging will the flickering stop.....anybody else experience this?.....any help would be most welcome, i cant record audio until i fix the issue....thanks....

How old approximately and how often is it used?

interface is M-audio fastrack pro...first available 2006....not sure how old this one im using is...the mac is a mac book air 2020 running sequoia 15.3.2

Using it the odd times week days and heavy use weekends....

Have you tried a different USB cable?

Maybe the interface is just dying. It does happen... With solid state electronics failures are pretty much "random". They don't usually have a predictable life time but of course as the years go-by the odds of a failure increase.

I have no idea what that indicator is for... Phantom power?

sorry my bad....the orange light is on the mac.....indicates that the mic is being used....its stable for a time..sometimes days sometimes hours....then starts flickering and causing noise....when unplugging the interface it settles nack down to normal.....im using logic pro....

I've swapped out cables a few times...and during interference...nothing helps so far...

borrowed another interface....everthing fine....but cant use it for extended period of time to know if i will eventually get the same problem.....might just buy new interface and hope its not a mac issue...
