Some interesting snippets, and good to see this in writing. Mentions, and glosses over that CD quality is already beyond normal human hearing limits even before age related hearing degradation sets in.
Ends with a view that Atmos will grow in popularity (nothing to do with high res)

The 16/44.1 CD standard was no accident, it covers best case scenario audibility thresholds.

The fact that anyone ever believed in "hi-res" audio is a testament to the power of marketing departments.

I do not like how he uses words like "Clarity" and "Detail" when describing CD or "Higher res" recordings.

It either captures the signal fully or does not.
I mean if no one can audibly tell them apart, I would say that it captures it well enough in reality.

I know over at the S.H. "Temple" many make huge arse claims, and then belittle anyone that questions them.....lol

SH himself thinks he can hear differences between DACs. I started a thread on there about it once and it was a never ending debate.

The problem with CD is not 16/44 limit, but permanent loudness war.

I believe, that Atmos could be a cure, if the format include reference level and required headroom. I don't konow details, but average volume of Atmos albums is like 12-18dB less than CD.
