^^^^ nifty!
Beautiful, in fact. I do like that 'gunmetal' (or graphite, or whatever they might have called it) finish.
I also like it. On brushed aluminium.

However, on sheet metal -where it doesn’t resemble what it's intended to -I don’t. Yamaha’s titanium fascias look great, but I think they shouldn’t try to match the covers to the fascia, two different materials and finishes, that end up with two different shades.
I think the contrast with black cover and brushed titanium faceplate makes it more visually appealing.

But, if given the choice, I will always go for a black Yamaha amp. ;)

Yamaha did indeed always do good things with the black facade. :)
I had a chance, years back, to buy an A-1 and a T-1, both in very nice aesthetic & functional condition, for a very reasonable price -- and I didn't take the opportunity. It's not, like, one of my life's great regrets -- but it was a missed opportunity ;)

Only the one black Yamaha "classic"* component here (a T-7 tuner). Nothing special in the firmament of Yamaha separates, but it is attractive.
Indeed, on topic for this thread, I should pop the top on it and snap a piccie of its innards. :)

* I realized when I linked to the photo above that the T-7 is sitting on a decidedly dark-looking ;) RX-V1050, but that latter, later, dump-find component doesn't really count! ;)

I disagree! That era of Yamaha home theatre amps are very fine sounding units, as good as any AX series I've owned IMO.

Back in the day I owned an RX-V870 from new. After years of flawless service I upgraded to much more costly Rotel separates and my little brother had to gently observe that it was a sonic downgrade on the Yamaha, to which I had to admit I agreed.

I actually didn't say that particular AV receiver didn't work well and sound fine! ;) It is, in fact, the go-to solid state amplification gizmo upstairs in the hifi room.
I posted nudies of it before in this thread, as it happens. It's pretty beefy, but, from my perspective, at least, not in the same league as many of its two-channel predecessors.
