Insane ...

If for no other reason, I’d consider purchasing one just to praise Denon for creating this extraordinary device  :D

Do not do it, it is not by Denon but outsourced to some Chinese OEM.The specs are not very good…not much extraordinary about those. The motor control has potential, but when reading the specs the potential is not fulfilled at all.
Only the name is in common with the classic Denons.

But is has Nice cosmetics …that is all, but that is not enough

OK ...

I was kind of surprised to note the »Made in China« label on the back.

Such a shame. A nice new denon turntable made in Japan for this price would even have been reasonable priced. :-( quess same tho as thorens and dual

Some good neews from HifiNews, performance Measure is Munch better than the specs of JIS 0.06%(WRMS)

Maybe not so bad then?

Hope they will soon review also its other big Japanese competitor, the Technics SL-1200GR2, as I am curious it measures in comparison.

I came very close to ordering the Denon before deciding to upgrade my tonearm. Right after ugrading, Accessories4Less had refurbished tables for $1699. Probably would have purchased at that price.

Here is Denon DP-3000NE Shaknspin measurement

Compare with Technics 1200G

Compare with the worst turntable I have measured ever, Origin Live Calypso. Listening to it made me sea-sick...

Here is what the manufacturer writes about this extremely poor measuring turntable

.
“For out-and-out performance, this deck has all the attributes you could ask for. Strengths lie in superb transparency, timing, musicality, dynamics, and tangible soundstaging. Capable of outperforming much more expensive, respected decks, Calypso MK4 is not going to disappoint you. Also, being neutral and system-friendly, it suits most applications very well.”

not possible

Shaknspin has a deviation if not calibrated 33.45=33.33 on strobe

i'm not saying this is good or bad but for $2,5k... and this is probalby one of the more high end units... is there an expectation to be made in japan???

i think the yamaha as 1200 and mid spec marantz stuff is made in vietnam??

ah ok..
(it's surprising such a difference with and without calibration...out of curiosity, how does this calibration work? ;-) )

Poorly. You have to calibrate against a known reference every time you turn it on- it does not remember. Run “calibrate” on a SP10!!!
Version 2 has a different calibration with some light sensor. I cannot see how that would be better.
I simply know from my strobe and DD that 33.45 on my Shaknspin equals 33.33 true speed. I use a KAB strobe light and Project strobe disk to verify true speed.

surprising and sincerely disappointing.. (I don't see myself connecting my sl1000mk2 just for that..hihi)
a good strobo (see a 300hz) remains a really welcome solution for the greatest number... has proven itself for decades...

ps the rpm wow application android increased its speed a while ago acquisition etc and it seems, if we make a lot of effort to position the phone, (see the use of a small phone to limit the "swinging" etc)..., seems to me to offer fairly good results on Android, for that too , general use...*

maybe I will have the opportunity to compare these different free applications ios android etc. with the most reliable approaches...?? (even, telephone application, if in the end ironically mainly concerns turntables of serious constructions where the impact of the telephone placed unsymmetrically etc. is limited....)

would be an interesting little goal for the small team of "phono measurement" enthusiasts that you are... ;-)

(* for my part, now that seems sufficient, in my case no difference play or not, enough for me to observe the state and direction , tension, of the belt, the state or my lubrication efforts, the leveling etc. the "beaba"... "in relative values"... not in "researcher" mode ;-) )

No, not bad, why the spec so far off is A mystery.

Perhaps Denon specs are "worst case". I ended up keeping the Clearaudio because of the ceramic magnetic bearing and the peripheral record clamp. I will have to deal with changing the belt on occasion..... Once I get my test record and dive down the measurement script rabbit hole, I should be able to verify whether using a peripheral clamping ring makes a measured difference.

Your phone will be more accurate than a test record, but a test record can tell you other things also( arm resonances rumble noise distortion crosstalk)
Putting some talcum on the belt from time to time has a dramatic positive effect on my belt drive.

I have speed adjustments covered with the Waxwing speed function. Subjectively, playback sounds better with the inner and outer clamps in place. I would like to know whether this can be verified with measurements - frequency response and harmonic distortion. The added mass of the outer clamp does cause the speed to be adjusted, but you can put the clamp on before the record to test without actually clamping it.

Regarding belts, I ordered a silicone belt from this company.
Similar pricing to OEM CA belt, had to wait on shipping from Europe. Overall, seems to be a good belt. Will have to see how long it lasts.
