I am wondering about Infinity Interlude IL40, I could buy a pair, I understand that the Interlude-series speakers was designed when Dr. Floyd Toole was leading their R&D team. So I expect that they hold the values that we believe in this site.
Before jumping in, I would like to read your comments and opinion.
Can anyone share anechoic measurements?

if you can get them at a good price , they are an outstanding value proposition...they are a medium sized 3 way tower that measures pretty well... generally speaking : vintage infinity speakers hold up well vs like priced current speakers

I had some Inifnity speakers somewhere between 2003 and 2013.
They sounded terrible even as new. Later, the cones literally rotted around the rubber mount, so one day, when my wife turned the volume up a bit the cones dropped out. I called Dave Davies, but he already had a speaker like that.
Shan't go near Infinity again! I'm sure there are decent models though.

that's what happens to old foam surrounds, it has absolutely *nothing* to do with speaker quality... you were probably using them long after they needed tending to...

They lasted 5 years.
But they sounded rubbish from day 1.

It would be helpful If you remember the model of the Infinity speaker for the rest of us to avoid. I will say that your experience does not match mine or others. While some of the older Infinity models, likely before Mr. Toole arrived there, had foam surrounds that deteriorated this hasn't matched my experience. What I have had problems with are their subwoofers which have failed prematurely apparently due to bad electronics.

x2.... I'd love to know what to avoid as well...there were a *few* models that weren't great( the sm line gets panned on occasion)...

They were a small two-driver design. I forget the model number, as they are almost beyond living memory. They looked nice in the (quite large) dining room so I'm guessing some WAF may have been involved.
If you like speakers from this brand, then go right ahead, I'm sure they have plenty of good models in their line up. I was just reporting the facts. I'm being like a guy who won't buy a Ford or a Peugeot car, because one engine range used wet cambelts that disintegrated and blew up his engine.

If I recall correctly, this series of Infinity speakers was praised lavishly by Peter Aczel in one of the final issues of the late, lamented-or-not magazine "The Audio Critic." What that means, I ave no idea.

I remember a "forum friend" got a bunch of this Infinity series (don't remember particular models now) a few years back and loved them. Keeping potential repair in mind depending on current condition....

I understand that they use rubber surrounds and hold up very well, the IL 40 look like the best value in the series being a small ( ish) 3 way tower

He was using some DefTec bookshelfs and some subs, then switched to I think SVS Ultras then tried the Infinitys....IIRC

That sounds like a steady upgrade path.. I've read in other discussions that the IL 40s are a solid upgrade from the primus 360 that Erin reviewed and liked ...one day ( soon I hope ) I plan on trying these out just for giggles...

I think he kept the SVS Ultras in the main system but its been a while. The investment in the Infinitys was very low and the return very high is more the way I remember his comments.....he left the forum a few years ago

The only infinity's I've I heard recently are the crescendo 3006's , they have the emit r tweeters and are a large bookshelf .. They're pretty good .. I've been listening to them for about the last 4 yrs ...if the IL 40' s are close to as good I would consider them a good investment..

A pair of Interlude IL-60s have been my primary speakers for 22 years, and I've never tired of listening to music and movies through them. I recall reading once that the IL40 had a somewhat less flat response that some preferred. Alan Devantier, the Interlude line designer, created some exceptional speakers over a quarter-century ago. Get them.

How are the powered subs holding up?...
