Good Morning everyone. So, as I am still researching and rebuilding my dad’s Sansui speakers ( A very slow process). The reason am looking at in wall speakers is because am looking at an alternative way to listen to my theater radio and TV shows and music in my house. I have a few questions about my idea and could it work for my benefit or no? So, first off my budget for a pair of in wall speakers is $1,000 a pair. I can add a powered subwoofer in a few months if needed. Second In stead of putting them in the wall can I put them in a floor standing speaker box with acoustic stuffing in it? Do I have to have a certain box size for them? Last but, not least Can they sound as live and natural as a regular speaker? I know it’s a lot of questions but, before getting into this project and dropping $1,000 on speakers alone I wanted to ask for some advice and help on how I would use the in walls? Am not looking to shake the house down or rattle the nails out of the ceiling. Am looking for a speaker that can handle from an explosion to a whisper and go back to taking with no issue. Please explain if this idea would work? and what speakers would be the be the best fit for my needs? Thanks in advance. Jeff

P.S. Klipsch is on sale right now at Crutchfield. I have had them before but, never their in wall speakers.

Is the floor standing speaker box a stopgap, or is it the in-wall speakers' final installation spot?

If it's the latter, then what's the point? What are you hoping to get out of building your own floorstanders this way?

By default, in-wall speakers are designed to be run w/o enclosure, have their own enclosure with precise volume already, or in some cases (e.g. W228Be), are sold unsealed, but can be enclosed with an optional back box with precisely specified volume.

In that case, you could feasibly make your own box with the same volume.

However, performance will be suboptimal as the in-wall speaker expects infinite baffle mounting.

Is the floor standing speaker box a stopgap, or is it the in-wall speakers' final installation spot? Yes it is the final spot.

If it's the latter, then what's the point? What are you hoping to get out of building your own floorstanders this way? I was hoping for a quick speaker build that I don’t have to do much and could use them asap.

Okay I saw the Revel speakers. Nice. I understand now. Some in walls have open backs and some already come with sealed backs. Which I could put on an infinite baffle correct and no box? This would be Ideal for me.

In that case, you could feasibly make your own box with the same volume. Yes That is true. I can make my own box.

However, performance will be suboptimal as the in-wall speaker expects infinite baffle mounting. I get it now and makes sense. Thanks for sharing your advice.
