Seeking advice as I plan a new sub for my living room.
Currently, I am using an SB Audience Bianco SW450 18". This is a pro PA type driver with high sensitivity ~99dB, it is housed in a 250L sealed box and it is driven by a Fosi Audio V3 Mono at 8ohm. I appreciate this is lower power, however with the high sensitivity and large box, it performs well and plays low without much effort.
I have a Denon 3800 with Audyssey XT32 which obviously helps a lot, and I typically listen around -18dB maximum volume, so again the system doesn't have to work too hard.
The downside of this setup is, of course, the 250L box in my living room which is too difficult to try and overcome, so I must replaced the sub with something more compact.
The best driver I can find at a reasonable cost is SB Acoustics SB34, the long stroke paper cone woofer SB34SWPL76-4 https://sbacoustics.com/product/12in-sb34swpl76-4/
This should play low with fs 19hz, it is also ~4ohm so I will make the most of the Fosi amplifier compared to my old 8ohm setup. I can fit a sealed box of around 55L net, it will be in the corner of my living room so I expect significant room gain (8th space boundary loading? https://www.prosoundtraining.com/2011/08/29/how-boundaries-affect-loudspeakers/).
What I need help on
When I model my old and new sub setup in WinISD, naturally the results are quite different to what I will see from an in-room setup with Audyssey applied. I am trying to understand if the planned SB34 sub setup will benefit from similar room loading/EQ possibilities as my old 18" setup? Will it end up being able to play fairly flat/low?
Based on WinISD modelling alone, the SB34 looks worse overall.
The old 18" Bianco setup is in green and planned new SB34 setup in Blue
I also have the "before" Audyssey measurement of the sub below, you can see it plays relatively low even before EQ (I know "after" is not a measurement but a simulation).
Any guidance on this plan, in-room acoustics or recommendations for other drivers would be greatly appreciated.
