I'm having an upgrade-itis itch - coming from Motu M4

What to consider? I primarily use the Motu M4 to drive a pair of studio monitors, and occasionally use the headphone output. I like knowing I have the ability to record, so a good ADC is nice to have, but I don't use it much (sometimes I record from a microphone).

I know there is RME, but they are way on the pricey end of the spectrum and it appears to get the equivalent functionality of the M4 (from number of inputs/outputs) I'd need to get the RME ADI 2/4 Pro, which is $2K. Ouch! Not sure I want to spend quite that much (maybe there are other cheaper RME options with equivalent functionality)?

What else to consider? Or simply not worry about upgrading as the M4 is quite good already?

You really, really won't get much it anything by changing M4. Eventually if you need more of something (mic pre, line ins, line outputs). Don't use interface for headphones, you could get something for them if you don't have already. Or add something else (a sub, better speakers...). Topping also makes audio interfaces.

Right. I upgraded my speakers from JBL LSR305 to Adam Audio T8V. Not sure I'm a fan of the T8V however (the ribbon tweeter takes some getting used to), ordered some Kali IN-8 V2s which will hopefully arrive towards the end of next week. And I guess I was thinking, new speakers, new interface? But maybe you're right and I should save the money and stick to the interface. It's just driving my speakers 99% of the time. Sometimes I use the headphone out for late at night. And very very occasionally I will record from a mic.
