is this a do-able way to overcome the hurdle of coming from my Parasound preamps balanced outputs through the IK multimedia Arc Studio and then into the unbalanced inputs of my Emotiva Bas-x 300 power amp? The crucial part is: Does the analyzing phase of setting up the whole thing work if I am going from balanced to unbalanced inside the XLR to RCA plugs?
I´m quite sure the setup will work once the analyzing phase is over. Am I right about this?? :-)

Converting XLR to RCA is troublesome in many ways and usually results in a drop in signal fidelity, see below:

Would not recommend in any case.

It should work, but the best thing to do would be contact IK tech support and ask them what cable and wiring config they suggest. Worse case scenario they don't support SE output and you have to go through a conversion box to get to RCA

I have asked them and they say, they dont know if it will work????? A bit of a lazy answer I think :-)

you can measure maybe some devices make problem. I have only test unbalanced TRS to balanced TRS and see no problem. But if the device is good there should be no problem on modern devices. a unbalanced RCA is - 10 db so you need at least a 18 bit balanced TRS device AD. Here you can see a measure test. I measure a new mackie big knob passive with balanced cables and unbalanced cables on output. it is a passive device so normaly expect more diffrences. only the DIM look not good, DIM knob reduce level and did most equipment not have. i need that not

the only thing which is a problem are analog stereo pots when use low volume (9 o clock even more on 8 o clock) they can differ alot. if it is aging because of use i did not know. I believe it not before i really test it that modern hardware have such a problem. There can hear if left to right channel differ more than 0,3 db when you hear not so loud. it sound strange in bass or on mono instruments and reduce clarity

I get replaced for free easy this near 3 year old . so i guess many bad sound problems in the world depend more on left to right channel diffrences than on frequency problems. best is use rew and measure yourself at diffrent volume levels. there is no measure microphone need and REW can use for free. there are also some that report sound diffrences on

this was the old and because it look so worse i have of course test it with all balanced cables. I also notice that before if i connect the dsp with or without balanced cables change nothing

a diffrence on focusrite 8i6o between balanced unbalanced can also not see. only diffrence left to right on low volume with volumne knob. ~ 2 db at 8 clock at 9 o clock ~0,5 db

so what i want to say is when you add another device you need set the volume knob maybe diffrent. this can cause diffrent left to right diffrences which change your sound when use stereo analog pots. and thats not the root problem of balanced unbalanced cables. unbalanced connect maybe sound more hifi because when volume knob is at higher levels then left to right diffrences are lower in db . I guess all sound diffrences people hear between balanced unbalanced can maybe a problem of analog stereo pots
