IEMs Single DD vs Multiple Drivers

I wouldn't mind more optimization to the point where alternatives can't compete. I'm not sure what you mean with your speaker analogy, the majority of well-measureing speakers are two-way, not single driver. For IEMs a concern with multiple DDs is added bulk which can affect fit. So adding the compact BA seems reasonable if FR goals are hard to achieve with 1DD.
I agree. Obviously pure "driver count" is silly and the number of different drivers just by itself does not say much, if anything, about sound quality. But the claim that single DD IEMs are simply superiour and sound better is just unfounded and no evidence is presented for it. They became in the last years extremely good, especially in the budget realm, but the best sounding IEMs I have are still hybrids.

Friend of mine wanted to get cheap IEMs, so i found on the local classifieds Chu 2's. With this PEQ Sultan of Swings sound so amazing and airy in the upper range a lot of details popped up. Even that on the graphs Zero and Chu have same bass response, the Zero's bass its so much fuller and deeper, even with the EQ in the lower range the Chu's can't reach them. Probably will wait for the Hexa 2 (Pure), early reviews says they fixed the bass and the IEM sounds way much more "fun" than before, ill gift the Zero's to my buddy.

I might free up the 30hz band and try to fix the FR in other ranges in the future, but for sure i'm certain i can't live without proper treble extension, thanks for all of the advices and time!

Chu 2 is a very good IEM, but for the bass you have to see the level of sealing of the tip that could be more effective on Zero 2 (wearability).
I'm also curious about Hexa 2 but I have a bad feeling about the prices especially in Europe. On Amazon Italy the Hexa has already gone from €75 to €99. I hope they don't increase the prices with Hexa 2...
