i still have an old yamaha rx–a3080 sitting around here, and i wonder if upgrading to rx–a8a would change much about the idling power consumption, as in, how much power does it consume when there is no signal but everything is on.
does anyone by chance has the numbers for both amps?

The state of when a amp is sitting there powered on but not doing anything is referred to as quiescent. :D

thanks.

the manual only gives you the numbers for standby, but not for idle — idle is the power consumed when the device is on but there is no signal.

"quiescent", huh?
didn't notice that.
my bad.
and:
apologies.
i'm not a native english speaker, and sometimes technical terms can be tricky.

now, does anyone know the power consumed when the devices yamaha rx–a3080 and yamaha rx–a8a are on but there is no signal?
thank you very much, indeed, in advance.

The RX-A8A manual does not give a quiescent condition power consumption specification.

The RX-A3080 does not give a quiescent power rating.

thanks.
that's what i said.
and i suppose that's the case with other amps etc., too, not just with yamaha.
now, does anyone perhaps have the figures i was asking for available?
