iD4 & iD14 MK II - Audient updated their Audio Interfaces

By the way, Audient launched the iD44 MKII recently, and it uses the ES9842PRO as ADC, which is interesting as it's the 4 channels version of ES9822PRO used in the Cosmos ADC.
It has been tested by Julian Krause:

Also here:
Actually iD4 mkii (maybe iD14 as well) has been using ES9822PRO already since the latter half of 2021 because of the fire in AKM.
Here is the inside of a newer iD4. The time marker 2142 means it‘’s been made at week 42 in 2021.
But nobody checked the performance of iD4 or iD14 with ES9822PRO.

I need some help with powering my ID14 mkii. I'll be very glad if anyone with some knowledge or experience can help me.

My PC is very old, which only has USB 2.0 ports. Since I use it with low impedance headphones such as KZ AS10 and ATH-M50X, I haven't encountered with any power issues yet. However, I still want to power it properly.

Would it be appropriate if I bought a USB-C y cable and connect one end to a phone charger for power and the other end to the USB port of my PC?

Or, should I buy a powered USB hub that can feed my interface with 5V-0.9A such as this?

Is there a powered usb hub that you know can provide 5V-1.5A as well?

Any comment is appreciated in advance!

It would work, I tested the second one with some of my devices.

I did a multitone test today with my old RS UPD on the Audient ID4 mk2 DAC. It seems the issue only arises when the output is driven to its complete max (clipping?), I replicated the issue when I set my analyzer input impedance to 300ohm. At 20Kohm or when I reduced the output one or two clicks it was immediately gone. I guess this was what wolf was experiencing. To be on the safe side, everyone using this as a Dac should reduce the output one or two clicks to get best resolution.

I was using it with a USBC to USBA cable on Mac I will try to Power it correctly with the right USBC cable and power in the next days and see if this solves the issue completely

Ignore lower than 50hz,

The line out may not be using the most powerful opamps on this planet, since it normally doesn't have to drive loads as low as 300 ohms (which is what the headphone output is for) and conserving power is a slightly higher priority in a bus-powered interface. Expected loads would be in the 10-20 kOhm range.

BTW I tested the older version of ID4 mk2 with AKM and cirrus chips, not the new silent updated ess ADC and unknown DAC version. This maybe a fixed issue already.

Is there any noticeable difference on headphone output between USB C and USB A 3.0 connection? Perhaps not a problem with 35 ohm phones, but what about 300?

how possible cs43198 is now ess chip?? any real tear down in recent non defected unit?

update es9822 and cs43199 are both worse than original setup (akm+cs43198)

cs43199 is for mobile phones

advoid it or if you get the old stock

Yes the current MK2 is worse than the MK2 at release, I measured. It’s crazy how these companies can silently change the internals to something worse after they have already received all the positive reviews from reviewers.

It'll be very useful if you can share the new and the old Mk2 measurement with us. Thank you.

These were just very quick measurements of the DAC, No level match etc, unfortunately I can’t measure my older MK2 anymore because it went defective and that’s why I bought the second one only to be disappointed at the performance compared to the previous MK2 (even with a 3db advantage) , I did save some pictures with my phone, more quicker than saving a screenshot with these old floppy disk equipment. So all in all I didn’t measure them to present the measurements, it was only a quick comparison for myself

Hello everybody,

JFYI, a new release of Audient ID14mk2 have on board one ES9822PRO ADC and three CS43198 DAC

This is my device:

Are you sure that CS43199 was used, I don't find any picture or message about that on the web except your post?
Regarding ES9822PRO, not sure it's worse than the previous AKM, would need to measure it

They definitely changed it to a lower performing model without telling their customers, that’s for sure.

I bought ID14 MK2, twenty days ago and on board there is CS43198 DAC. Have you see inside your device? What is the serial number?
