i2s input dacs for multichannel build

I am looking for a multichannel USB > i2s interface that can be hacked to take external clocks. Do you know if that might be feasible with this unit?
Mchstreamer is the only one I've used. As I run it, it uses the embedded clock of its Toslink input for all outputs. I'm running it one stereo input (Toslink from a Wiim Ultra) to 6 output channels, DSP processed by CamillaDSP under Ubuntu Linux. The Wiim can be set to always output the same sample rate (96k here).

Don't know if that helps you any, but that's what

I've got. It has been working great since I got it correctly configured. The channel swapping was my own mistake in routing and DSP configuration -- so many options and signal lines can get me easily confused.

No idea whether the Mchstreamer could be hacked, I've not found any schematic for it.

Is this just a reference to processing power or are you alluding to something more specific re multichannel?
I am not sure I understand your question, I thought the full comment was self explanatory:
I believe there weren't many DACs with multichannel inputs because there weren't many sources that would provide such signal (probably for a reason), but being the rpi such a popular platform, maybe things change with the 5, which is capable of providing multichannel i2s.
