Looking for a classD amplifier to run my Snell c/v in a larger room (60 m2 approx).

Was looking at the following or similar amps:

  1. AUDIOPHONICS AP300-S500NC Power Amplifier NCore NC502MP

  2. AUDIOPHONICS HPA-S450ET Power Amplifier Purifi 1ET6525SA

It’s nearly double price for the Purify solution, and maybe slightly higher specs.

But if you can’t hear (I asdume) the difference in a blind test, what’s then the reason for paying more, something I missed out?

Some people like chasing specs. I haven't checked the reviews lately, but I believe the Purifi has slightly better SINAD than that Hypex. You won't hear the difference, but it might make you feel better inside. Me, I prefer the feeling of money in my wallet.

So basically, it’s all a matter of psychological choices

The Purifi should have less load sensitivity, or at least Bruno stated this was a motivation.

Edit : and better stability if HF energy injected (e.g. from wrongly filtered DSD)

Sometimes paying a bit extra is better than upgrading later again
There are obviously amps which many could buy and would basically never need to upgrade from

Feels like choices... but the science points another way... ("Determined" by Robert Sapolsky Ph. D Neurosurgery)

Oh dear, not Sapolsky on Free Will. Cringe.
Yes we do make choices in any normal coherent sense of the word.

But best not get into that subject further here.
It’s probably more contentious than religion
:-)

Well sir, I actually read the review through and enjoyed the learning experience, even your musical choices in the review, which couldn't be more opposite to mine :D Thanks muchly indeed :)

Amazing today, how a pair of 'early-maybe-faulty' boards actually perform at their worst, as good or better than audiophile products of the 80s and onwards I suspect (-70dB distortion was classed as 'good' in the mid 80s 'Choice tests).

I totally get all of that... including the Cringe. (though if you look at Sapolsky's resume since H.S... it reads like Feynman's (self taught Swahili vs Portuguese) ... from a different burrough... lol) Your reality check is spot on, thanks.
