I need me one of these haircuts...

To justify 'my need' for this haircut, it would help if I had more hair to cut.....

Genuine turkish barber for the win, slightly more hands on with their scalp/shoulders massage and they burn off all ear hair

Having ball of flame applied directly to the ears is interesting, the smell of burning hair is less lovely.

Yes, this is quite a common full course of haircut in Japan; happily, I still have enough hair for it, and I periodically go through exactly the same full course service every two or three months, it costs about Japanese Yen 4,000 which is about USD 27 on present currency rate! :D

Looks lovely but be careful what you wish for: where I live haircuts and washing with headmassage have been quite common... since their price increased about 50% after covid.

I'm sure you could bargain a deal for a headmassage if you pay 50% more. ;-)

I wondered how long before someone came up with that one. :)

I used to live near a traditional barber shop, where you'd be in and out in 10 minutes. But for many years now, I've been DIY; a number 2 all over and a tidy up around the edges.

I discussed several times with the hairdresser people at my favorite local barbershop about the wonderful sharp scissors they are using.

They said that the professional scissors typically cost about Japanese Yen 100,000 to 300,000 each (USD 677 to 2,031), and the most expensive one at that barbershop is Yen 600,000 (USD 4,063); they ask periodical monthly professional sharpening service on the scissors.

As you can see in the beginning of the video clip, each of the hairdressers usually carry his/her own around ten different professional scissors!

Sez the man covering up his self-styled haircut with a hat!:p

Nowadays, that 10 minute haircut costs a minimum of ~$40, w/o the tip (or the shampoo or the deep scalp message).
That was a wise move you did and do tell us what you've been spending all those $aving$ on.;)

The lady I go to now only charges $17, and it probably takes 5 minutes. No shampoo and I'm about 70% bald. :( Getting a hair cut isn't much fun when you're bald but at this point I don't want to shave it all off. I've been to a place that charges more than my hair is worth and I went to another place a couple of times where it took something like 20 minutes. I was getting rather impatient and I was thinking that maybe they wanted me to feel like I was getting my money's worth. But I was thinking, "What's taking so long,? My haircut should be easy."

My partner and I have been cutting my hair with a Remington Quick Cut since the covid lockdown. It cost £35 and took some confidence to use it the first few times (she was particularly nervous) but I'm pleased to report that we've used it since lockdown and I'm always happy with the cut, not to mention the hundreds of pounds saved on going to the barber. It's a cracking piece of kit.

Same situation with me/us. I think we did that for some 2 to 3 years. Eventually I decided to go back to getting it cut at the usual place ("Great Clips."). I remember the first time I went to an outfit like that. The cut was $8. Today, it is I think $25. With tip it goes up to $30. Inflation is an incredible force....

There is a new fad around SoCal, called the "Ukrainian Manicure" that supposed to take ~3Hours and costs $350.

Oh, puhlease, I hope 'mEnicures' are not the next fad!
