I just wonder, why combine class AD in power amplifiers?

I can’t hear any difference between a prober designed class A/B and a pure class D power amp.

But I just wonder why many constructions, also highend versions, combine class D with class A.

Is this a selling point or something else?

I think it was Labgruppen doing this years ago. The linearity of class A and then 'simply' use class D to 'pump' the rail supply with whatever amount of power you need.
Called class TD.

Pretty much as said above as I understand. Here is Devialet's info on theirs with a lot of why: https://www.devialet.com/en-us/amplifiers/expert-pro/expert-pro-technologies/hybrid-amplification/

Personally I think it is a cool idea if it can be done well. A long story resulted from Amir measuring a Devialet:
