Very confused by this galaxy braining attempt at a distinction. Doesn't Chord also implement "brick wall" filters and that's what produces a sharp roll off? I saw the reference to the SINAD ratings so was hoping someone could translate this for me as I am new to all this.

Couldn't see the post even logged into Facebook, it's a closed group or something. Maybe post a screenshot?

Yes, K3D, apologies, it is a "private" FB group you have to solicit. They are possibly aware sunlight is the best disinfectant?

BTW, those JPEGs are barely readable -- how about some simple screenshots taken with something other than your phone?

Yes, BM, I was trying to limit the number of attachments and they thus require you to zoom/drag. As you observed, the posts are verbose, so not the easiest to screenshot! Hopefully the below are more legible.

Hello and welcome to ASR. :)

One screenshot goes on about a Loxjie D40 only having a brickwall filter... seems rather misinformed;

The old "ringing" and "smearing" chestnut. I'm unaware of any actual evidence that the minor ringing necessarily introduced by a filter is at all audible. It seems to be entirely a post-hoc rationalization for hearing a difference in a sighted listening test which would almost certainly disappear in an blind listening test.

If that wasn't enough to disregard this person's pontificating, they also plainly don't know what a brick-wall filter actually is.

Or how ringing works, or how the sampling theorem works, for that matter... He's basically the Jon Snow of digital audio... :facepalm:
