i have mrx740 receiver built in 9010km2 dac and a standalone dac streamer built in 4491 4499ex
is it normal if two dac doesn't sound day and night difference?
i feel two of these dac have same sound to me

also i compare the spotify streaming between two of these device
the receiver has randomly laggy sound skip for a half second when playing spotify music via lan cable connected
how do i solve the issue
i have reset the ssid of the router and reset the network setting of the receiver
still has the laggy sound skip

1) Most people cannot tell one (modern) DAC from another. In fact most people cannot tell a 320k MP3 from a 24/192 FLAC. So, not hearing a difference is normal (but people who spend a lot get "automatic golden ears"). Don't worry.

2) If you are losing 1/2 sec from the start of a track from a streaming platform, that is usually a bug or deficiency in the app dealing with the connection to do with buffering. It has nothing to do with your LAN. If firmware updates are available, try them. I assume both pf your devices are receiving directly from spotify and you are not relaying data received on your phone to the playback unit..

the laggy sound skip usually happen on the middle timeline or the near the end of the song
i don't think the buffering caused laggy issue
the laggy won't happen on eversolo a8 streamer via wifi but happen on wired connected av receiver mrx740
there is no update firmware for mrx and i have the latest firmware for the router which has 1000Mbps internet speed

Neither can I, @derekchan . Neither can I. And I don't want to.

I'm a musician and a music lover. I also enjoy good SQ but that's mostly a function of recordings, speakers and rooms.

Perhaps I could train myself to hear the difference between, let's say, Opus at 180 kbps and LPCM but what's the upside?

Training myself to hear the difference between DACs (that ought to be and are most likely are both transparent).... ? There's better ways to spend my time.

As I said, it has nothing to do with your lan, ethernet or Wifi.
I'm now not sure what "laggy" means here....
How is the spotify data is getting to the MRX?

I just saw multiple similar posts from you; I'm not sure you have set up your kit sensibly - you may need to get a friend to come and show you what to do, as your short "I have a problem" posts don't help us to help you....

I have several DACs from reputable European brands, bought used, for $35 (new = 220), $200 (1050), and $500 (1550, current model = 2000, upgradable with digital preamp function & no name remote control).

Guess what?!

I have a thought of streaming spotify from eversolo a8 but outout digi data to vintage 2000s era pcm1704 tda1541 resistor dac
For d a conversion

I read a post said he had a yamaha av receiver built in pcm1704 for singing concert dvd content, the good analog sound from this dac make him cry

Can i pick up a vintage 1704 dac player for pure dac device with eversolo

How about vintage 1704 tda1541 r2r dac
Can i buy a old cd player as pure dac and use eversolo a8 as streamer to outout coxial digi data

Why would you want to do this?

The overwhelming majority of the time people claim to be able to hear the difference between DACs, it's in their heads, or it's a result of not having some basic controls ( like level-matching ) in place. After that - the majority of modern DACs are completely transparent - that's why you can't hear a difference between them - so if you actually can hear a difference when compared with a vintage DAC, it's because the vintage DAC is doing something wrong.

I can make a post saying I got incredibly warm sound by running my audio signal through my oven. Doesn't make it so. The job of a DAC is to read the digital slices of a waveform and put them back together in the right order. It's not complicated or magical - you put the slices back together in the right order without introducing spurious noise or distortion, and the job is done. If two DACs put the slices back together in the right order and neither introduces noise or distortion above the threshold of audibility, those two DACs are going to sound the same.

Let's just have one topic for one problem:

whatever floats your boat, derek. for me that would be a pointless and expensive exercise. i want to spend the rest of the day designing a patch and performance that allows me to play Ladytron's greatest hit Destroy Everything You Touch on my guitar. it's a simple form and i think i can do it with three parts: bass, synth chords and lead.

whatever floats your boat.

DACs were pretty good even in the 1990s and today even cheap ones are quite good. So you would not expect to hear a difference between a "real" DAC and an AVR DAC.

You really need to be skeptical about this kind of post. This kind of DAC will just add distortion compared to what you already have. People expect DAC to have some kind of impact on the sound like vinyl vs. CD. It's really nothing like that and most of what people hear is imaginary.

Depending on the source material, I can't hear any difference between the DAC functions of my old, dirt-cheap Behringer UMC222 and the years-newer, far better measuring UMC202HD. IMO, in general DACs have essentially been a solved problem since the turn of the century and are nowhere near the SQ bottleneck presented by vinyl or analog tape, let alone the gorilla in the room: transducers!

This is exactly the exptectation. Even average performing DACs (such as those in an AVR) are better than human hearing.
