I am a convert. Goodbye snake oil!

My favorite Synergistic Research product is their Magic Dots aka ECT or Electronic Circuit Transducers.
For only $299.00 you get a package of 5 to place around inside your components and transform the sound of your rig (for the better they claim).
Like White Castle burgers you should "buy en by the sack" !

Reminds me of the Marigo dots https://www.kempelektroniksshop.com/marigo-audio-lab/

Little story about Synergistic Research. Gene from Audioholics called out SR's BS. The owner of SR went after Gene. According to Gene, he was harrassed and stalked.
Creepy if true.

So... and this is probably painfully obvious  ... but, the kind of guy I am looks at that and my eyes are drawn immediately to DO NOT PLACE DIRECTLY ON TUBE. There are plenty of small-signal tubes that don't run very hot at all... so you know what I'd be doing first, right outta the gate!

Yes, I am pretty sure I was fated to be an experimental scientist.

Replacing bulky "audiophile" cables, removing the ethernet switch (going Wifi instead), and getting rid of useless accessories, has allowed me to streamline my setup. it is more pleasing to the eye. Here are before and after pictures.

What a downgrade. As a technically inclined person, I appreciate a proper cable salad.

That sounds like something I'd expect to find in a well stocked sexshop. The Vibratron... oh yeah.
Perhaps you are thinking of the device in Woody Allen's film "Sleeper"

Me too.

"Hot Surface - Do not touch" Really? How hot?

"Shatterproof Ruler" Are you sure? (Turned out it wasn't)

Etc.

Have you heard of the black box? I vaguely recall a demo with this at Axpona several years ago.

I looked it up and skimmed through the video. Not a lot of info about what's in The Black Box or how it works. Supposed to eliminate your nodes and modes. Amazing for a 10" box! Positive and significant changes and the new Carbon model is stackable. Audio Bacon loved it way more than the folks commenting on youtube.

Once, while kind of vexed about something or other, I tested the shatterproof ruler one in grad school myself. Same result that you observed.

Imagine what an eleven inch box would do!
Or an e inch box... or a π inch box, for that matter.

I started removing expensive cables from my system, and replacing them with stock cheap cables. I then listened with what I beleive to be an open mind.
There was absolutley no difference! The expensive cables look nice, but they don't improve sound quality.
I went through that same process back in the 1990s. I didn't know the science yet, I just knew that I really couldn't detect much of a difference, if any, when I made a half-assed attempt to do a blind test, which was achieved by closing my eyes and turning a rotary selector switch very quickly to lose track of which cable it was on. With my eyes closed any perceived differences went away as I switched back and forth. I just figured I wasn't a talented listener so I didn't need to spend any more on cables to fulfill my listening needs.
Recently I've been burning my CDs to my disk drive with lossy compression for the same reason. I may occasionally notice a difference when I do quick A/B testing but it's never a real game changer. The compression doesn't ruin it for me, so I use it.

Imagine if it weren't black. What if it were white. Or stripey. Or - and don't dismiss this out of hand - polka dotted.

Ah, I hope you keep the original CD's. There may come a time when your system improves or you acquire more attentive listening habits and the lossy compression coding your using becomes more audible. IMHO I don't see where any "inaudible" lossy schemes can save enough storage space to be of worth it for the archiving of CDs over good ole lossless FLAC compression. Your music, your choice.
YMMV

BTW, Cables are a different case, unless they are very poorly made or constructed out of a badly chosen material, they can make Zero difference in the sound of your system.

I just bought a new 1.5m HDMI cable from a large electrical wholesaler in the UK. It has the HDMI.org hologram and QR Code to certify it as 8K performant. I have checked these on the certification site.

It cost ...wait for it.... £2.96

Don't understand why anyone would pay Audioquest or Chord prices for some additional feel-good marketing speak :)

Storage these days is cheap. Lossless FLAC guarantees you are replicating the CD perfectly. There’s no point (that I can see) settling for less…

I once ripped all my CDs to 128kb/s MP3 thinking I couldn't hear any deterioration. This was decades ago, at a time when storage wasn't anywhere near as cheap as it is now.

I later found I was wrong. I bitterly resented the time I spent re-ripping them to lossless.
