Hard to say.Are the animals really enjoying the music, or are they interested in attention from the musicians without regard to the sound?
Wear it like a badge of honour - the Naim forum is a HiFi cultWell I just got banned from the Naim forums. I started arguing with some guy about ethernet switches.
He used the audiophile trope of my system not being resolving enough for me to hear differences... My next replies got me banned.
No big loss. They believe in some crazy stuff over there.

Maybe.Living in Canada, as I do, the place to sell used audio gear is Canuck audio mart.
I have noticed anecdotally, that there seems to be a lot more "fancy" cables for sale. I know that the cables I sold recently, took a longer time to sell and sold for less than they would have a few years ago.
Maybe the work Amir, Gene and others are doing, is finally educating people.
Sport. In our culture once you've aligned yourself in a conflict it's considered dishonorable to back out or change sides. The facts of the matter are secondary.Over on the Naim forum, there are people pushing back strongly against my claims that cables and ethernet switches do not make a difference. I don't understand the stubborness.
It's more or less a social sunk cost fallacy.Sport. In our culture once you've aligned yourself in a conflict it's considered dishonorable to back out or change sides. The facts of the matter are secondary.
Yes, social capital invested. It's more or less a social sunk cost fallacy.
Yes indeed, it's one of the more harmless tribalisms. There's much, much worse ones, operating on the same base human instincts.Yes, social capital invested.
But beyond the social there's identity, which of course has meaning only in a social context, but ones self-concept may be very solid and hard to change even if you haven't socialized it much.
Of course, there are way more serious and frightening examples of these kinds of psycho and social dynamics than audio cables and football so maybe it's ok if we use up our energies arguing these matters.
It is impossible to change (blind) belief using logic.Well I just got banned from the Naim forums. I started arguing with some guy about ethernet switches.

OuchA cowch.
Especially when the snake oil manufacturer controls the forum. It is impossible to change (blind) belief using logic.
Horses like violin playingIt has often been happening that people play instruments on a field and the cows or horses come and listen. That heavily suggests they can very well distinguish sound and noise, similar to how we do.
Horses like violin playing
Today's lesson in logic!Hey, I like violin playing too! Does that mean … am I … part … horse?! . My wife has said I’m a horse’s *** before. It’s all making sense now …
Impressive that the silver one managed climb up on top of the speakerMy local HiFi store sold me these guys as they would actively “seek, locate, destroy” all distortion and would widen the soundstage and make everything sound better:

They make an audible difference! But once I find their mute switch so they don’t keep shouting ‘Exterminate!’ every 5 seconds, I’ll be able to evaluate their effect better
After all, if crystals and wooden volume control dials work, why shouldn’t these?
That’s their whole point! They lock onto a sub-par sound wave and ride up it to the ideal place to eliminate it.Impressive that the silver one managed climb up on top of the speaker
Gear addiction.I just put up my cable risers for sale!
I can't believe I went down the rabbit hole so far. Glad to be back in the sane world.
I have met a few audiophiles recently, as I have been selling off gear. The hobby seems to attract people with certain mental illnesses. I don't mean to be insensitive or put down others, but a good number of audiophiles seem to have something going on...
