Hypex just released a DIY mono amp kit based on the UxD700 and SMPS1200 for 500 euros excluding VAT. No soldering required!

The tech is already 10+ years old. It was still introduced as a DIY kit as a lower cost alternative.

Nothing wrong with 10 year old tech. Just sad they make a big deal about it, then it's gone in less than a year.,

But who said it is discontinued? Maybe just temporarily out of stock.

A lot from Hypex is now obsolete and discontinued. NC400, lot of UcD, etc. This (below) is available. I think they must have component supply issues.

Click the link, it says obsolete, not out of stock.

I just opened the website and says "This product is not available", no word on "obsolete".
Look a little harder.

Interestingly, was just discussing UCD with my Hypex rep. Was pondering whether one of the budget DIY models might be tested by ASR. He pointed out that NCore was a better value (for OEMs) and this often made it hard for the UCD models to compete with NCore. We did not talk about specifically about the UCD700, but if they only had it on the market for a short while, it either encountered a cost issue (like parts availability) or was not selling well for some other reason. With the costs associated with developing and marketing a new product, no business is looking to drop a product without good reason.

Yes, just like the entire electronics industry, Hypex has struggled with parts availability over the last few years. Both materials and labor were affected by the pandemic. New and popular products have been in short supply. Even before the pandemic, any electronics manufacturer (that has product lifecycles of more than a year) is constantly juggling parts inventory and supply tradeoffs. Suggesting this struggle is unique to Hypex is simply naive.
