The new amplifiers featuring Hypex NCOREx modules easily keep pace and are more affordable and/or more powerful.
The Hypex NCx500 actually tested slightly better on ASR.
Stereo amplifiers based on it offer nearly double the power and are available for €1,100—fully assembled, not as a kit.

Stereo amplifiers based on the Hypex NCx252MP are available for under €700 and deliver roughly the same power as the Hypex Nilai 500.

Stereo amplifiers based on the Hypex NCx252MP are available for under €700 and deliver roughly the same power as the Hypex Nilai 500.

This is true of the stereo kit, where two modules share one power supply, but the mono kit devotes a power supply to each module and can deliver 500W per channel at 4 ohms. The NCx500 delivers slightly more power, 700W vs 500W into 4 ohms, but this difference is a little under +1.5 dB.

The Nilai module is therefore positioned between the NCx252MP and the NCx500. It also has direct connections on the module and does not take its entire I/O via a header, which makes it much more accessible for DIY use, and there is no separate input module to buy.
