Hypex Announces New and Improved NCOREx Class-D Amplifier Technology

Finally Hypex is launching refreshed NCx122MP and NCx252MP. Missing the big brother NCx502MP though...

Can't wait to see the performance, it looks like Ncore X with an integrated PSU... who knows, a good compromise to the NcX500 for example)

Good to see, yet hoping they addressed this specific potential issue;

Well, there aren't any data sheets yet. I'm dying to see if distortion is going to be improved over the old NCxxxMP modules.

Also, are we going to see a new line of Fusion Amps? Or can the new modules be retrofitted in existing FAs?

That is the point of NCx, right? Following what the NC500=>NCx500 improved, the datasheets for the MP series should show lower noise floor and remove the distortion bump near the knee.

The Fusion line uses NCMP amps so should be possible to replace with NCxMP.

....module porn.

So it went from 0.0014% in NC122MP to 0.0015% in NCx122MP. I don't think the new one is actually worse, that is probably within the margin of error. But it does not seem to promise a massive reduction in distortion.
Seeing it a bit differently, an improvement doesn't have to be like better measurements.
If these modules could provide more power with a bit less or more noise/distortion or better price to performance ratio then still a win.

Talked to a kind Hypex designer at the Munich fair:

1. He expects three zeroes in the distortion spec, more like the improvement from NC500 to NCx500.

2. Old and new models are compatible: same dimensions, connectors, signals.

3. There will be a new Fusion Amp generation at some point, but timing is very unclear

4. It will be possible to retrofit exisiting FA. The controller in the FA is preprogrammed and doesn't talk to the amplifier module.

Finally! I’m so sick of hearing the noise floor of all those previous solid-state amps!

:)
