Hey everyone,

I’m trying to use AirPlay to stream from my MacBook to my Apple TV, but it’s not working. Both devices are on the same Wi-Fi, but I can’t watch videos.

Can someone give me a simple, step-by-step guide to get AirPlay working between my Mac and Apple TV?

Thanks!

This is probably not the right forum, I'd suggest the Apple support site. But are you sure you have Airplay enabled on the ATV? Can you get sound over?

Thanks! I went there too. Everything seems to be connected and turned on, but for some reason it doesn't work.

What exactly does not work? What have you tried? What do you see? Any errors? What apps are you using?

I've been trying via AirPlay to my Apple TV, but it keeps freezing and going to a black screen. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Has it worked before?
If not, what version of both hardware & software?
I have Apple MacBook over 10 years old & one of the very earliest Apple TV devices.
Airplay from MacBook to ATV works fine although somewhat slow compared to my newer devices with latest version SW.
Newer and latest are flawless; Mac mini, ATV 4K in my home office.

The problem is possibly with your network (are they one the same network?). Try wired if you use wifi, or the other way around. But wired is more reliable.

I've had issues with AirPlay from Mac to Apple TV over WiFi. The fix for me was to just wire everything with ethernet cable and then it was basically flawless with video.
