How to run a Sub off my DAC/Amp?

Hello,

I have the Audio-gd NFB (i think it's the NFB 17) dac/amp unit and the Neumann KH120A monitors running from the two rear XLR outputs, and the front running my cans, just switch between the preamp and headphones. Its been a great setup, but just wondering is there a way to run a Sub off of this unit? Was interested in the Neumann KH750DSP 10". Here is what the rear of my DAC/amp looks like:

Here is what the rear of the KH750 sub looks like:

Would I just need some cable adaptor or splitter for the Sub's two xlr inputs? Or if easier, any good Sub alternatives that would work? I don't really want to buy another DAC/amp unit, but perhaps there is a better alternative?

thanks.

Hi @Jmos99! Welcome to ASR.

To add the KH750, you would typically do:
DAC->XLR->KH750 input->KH750 output->XLR->KH120
Yep, that's how I do it with my Genelec 8020a. I'm using the digital input of the sub though, fed by RME ADI-2 PRO.

For the KH 750 DSP you don't even need a DAC.

Yes, optimal sound quality would be achieved using the KH750's built-in DAC via its AES3 input.

Hi, is there a way for me to run the AES3 input from my DAC or PC with some adaptor/converter?
An SMSL PO100 coupled with a Coax to BNC cable would do the job.

PC->USB->PO100->Coax to BNC->KH750->XLR->KH120

At that point, the Audio-GD would no longer serve a purpose and could be sold.

Read the manual - the BNC input of the KH750 accepts SPDIF input level [1], so you can feed it directly from SPDIF coax output using a 75 Ohm RCA cable and a simple adapter from ECC female to BBC male. This is how I do it.

[1] Neumann recommends to use an adapter AES to SPDIF which lowers the output voltage to safe values. See the schematic in the manual.
