That's fair. Small bookshelves and deep bass generally don't go hand in hand.

Well, with modulo a 1.3 cu ft cabinet and an expensive woofer, you can do 30 to 20K in 3 drivers. The height is limited by packing the 3 drivers together one above the other. 8" woofer. HEAVY, expensive 8 inch woofer.

Harm to what?

Most headphones are not designed to preserve the fidelity of outside sound.

Get headphones with better bass, or at least more suiting your taste. EQ might help if implemented properly.

One that would do it are right outside my budget and closed backs sounds like shit except for the upper echelon that starts at 2K€.

Even when both subs are running only from a 12W wallwart each i can already feel it.

Now you're mixing modes. Headphones do not have the same LF limit if they fit your head well.

My concerns about low frequencies apply only to sound reaching the ear canal, etc. Body sensation is less understood, and even less tested.
