How to discover new threads only?

Hello! As the amount of traffic on this forum is a little overwhelming (in terms of how much time I have to peruse things) I was looking for a "New Threads" only option but the page linked to by clicking on the "New Threads" header on the forum's index page shows more than just newly created threads... did I overlook something?

Thanks!

I see that you're labeled 'new member' for the moment. So yes, you did overlook something. Eventually you will come to realize that there is no time outside of ASR, traffic here is not overwhelming and in fact not even sufficient, and new threads will be known to you whether you like it (or them) or not!

Joking aside, welcome to ASR. Your evident enthusiasm will serve you well.

Welcome to ASR!
Making this same feature request was also one of the first things I did when I joined ASR:

In landscape mode orientation, it will list the date the thread was started under the titles, so you can use that to skip over non-new stuff.

Well, yes, my monitor is in "landscape orientation"... ;)

I saw that thread... the thing is, under the "New Threads" header on the forum's index page it shows only new threads, but just 5. Clicking on the header gives me a list with very old threads as well. From a usability perspective that doesn't help me really... there's no other way to do this, really? Anyway, no biggie.

Thanks for the welcome, by the way!

Why does it matter whether a thread is 'new' or not? ASR has no time limit on threads, so 10 year old threads can still receive new posts that may have value.

I just start on the 'new posts' page – which are threads that have received posts since the last time I visited – and read the posts that interest me and that's all there is to it. If I have interacted with a thread I (sometimes at least) get an alert that there are new posts in that thread. Obviously there may be interesting threads that I never get to see because they have scrolled past the new posts page in the time since my last visit. There's no way anyone could (or would want to) keep up with everything posted here anyway ...

@asuser, there is a simple workaround, click search-->advanced search-->search threads, use a dummy phrase of very common words, specify a date, select subforum, sorting and "display as threads":

You don't even need to log in for this, which is IMHO a major bonus.

EDIT: I see if fails to find only new threads, so not exactly what you are looking for....

It's a nice option for very regular members looking to see if a new thread has been started since his last visit.
When I functioned as site Admin or Moderator it was very handy for keeping an eye on things without having to review every new post.
