How to... abandon a post after you've started typing and not have it come back to bite you?

I usually select all and delete...

Then just to be sure that the previous draft is really gone, I resave a draft with some short text in it (like PS).

offtopic, but I just want to say that the mental ability to abandon a post in the internet is crucial. most still haven't learnt that

That's why the phrase "thinking better of it" was coined.
