So i got a Yamaha R-S700 delivered by DHL, looks like that, except silver. These are beefy boys, 10kg or so.

I asked the seller to take off the knobs and pack it well. Even gave him a link to a website that explains box in box.
This is what i got:

The entirety of the cushion material, just some random styrofoam:

I'm not sure how, but the receiver didn't have a single scratch.

Some people either have no idea what happens to heavy boxes in shipping or (most likely) don't care.

A friend purchased an expensive dac years ago. Owner didn't have the original box. He put it in a thick zip lock freezer bag and slapped a label on it. I was amazed FedEx took the package that way as it was insured for several hundred dollars. Also amazing is it made it all the way across the USA without any damage.

I received a Yamaha as1000 off eBay. It used to be in mint condition. It weighs 50lbs and was packed the way yours was except with some air filled packets to "protect" it.

It arrived with holes from the faceplate poking out the side. What a waste of a beautiful amplifier.

I used blister envelope FEDEX packs for shipping car audio gear across Canada for several years when I specialized in high end car audio and not a single issue occurred. very high rating for FEDEX in my books.
