Wow, that wood looks stunning.

Yeah…. It’s a beautiful speaker to look at.
I looked for the speaker in that particular finish for years before I found a pair of secondhand.

Do you have any idea what kind of wood it is? I'm guessing it's MDF, not natural wood?

These are the Thiel 2.7 speakers which are a descendant from the bigger 3.7 speaker speakers that I also owned.

Thiel had used a new (for Thiel) cabinet design. Instead of MDF they developed
a brand-new cabinet structure using curved, bent plywood.

From Crutchfield’s page:

15-Layer Bent Plywood Shell: The main outer shell of the CS3.7 and CS2.7 cabinets was constructed by laminating 15 individual layers of hardwood together under intense heat and pressure. This created a bent plywood structure that was exceptionally rigid and acoustically inert, minimizing resonances.

They were finished with high-grade furniture veneers.

My Thiel 2.7s are in the Tiger Ebony finish.
Here’s another photo in different light:

Umm...

Wait, what? You can buy these things?
I'm with you. I've always been a little ashamed to buy a speaker instead of designing and making it.

Oh, yeah, I wasn't even thinking of the DIY when I responded to @Sal1950. Silly me!

I don't (usually) do the woodworking, though. Not my forte  so I farm that out.

I’m always impressed by any DIY endeavours, but the amount of designs you seem to have produced is particularly impressive.

I don’t have a DIY bone in my body.

(Ok, I pretty much designed to put together a turntable platform and a granite isolation base for my speakers, but that’s as far as I go)

The Harvard, Massachusetts town dump, ahem, transfer station was very good to me during the many years we lived there.
Up in Chicago I was a dedicated alley picker! I had the room then to collect the older stuff, a couple of old Altec mono DIY cabinet speakers for the basement and garage and lots of driving electronics. I had a very large collection of pulled tubes from discarded gear, etc. No room to even breath in this FL doublewide. :( LOL

At least it's a doublewide! :)
