I used the LX5's for surround speakers back in 1990 (Denon 5.1). got rid of them (I did not like them, turned out I did not like the Denon, either) and the surround system, been back at 2 channel (or quad [2.2, 4.2]) ever since 2000.

That would be me - 7 pairs of speakers (counting spare center) and 2 pairs of subs in one setup and 6 pairs of speakers (also a spare center) and 1 pair of subs in the other setup, 5K KM apart, approximately. What happened in the past, stays in the past. Was a lots of pairs though, although probably not much more than what I use now.

6 pair currently, although 3 pair are what I call "auxiliary" speakers. The 3 "auxiliary" pairs are 2 pair of surround speakers for HT use and 1 pair of subwoofers (Linkwitz Thor), also for HT use only. The other two pair are Linkwitz LXmini and Linkwitz LX521 speakers.

The LXminis sit abandoned in the corner of the listening room. When these were the primary speakers, they were crossed over with the Linkwitz subs in order to extend the bass response. The LX521's replaced the LXminis and are used for music and LF and RF for HT use. The last pair are Audioengine 2 powered speakers used in concert with a Intel I7 desktop computer.

11 total pairs since 1973. The only notable pairs among the 5 missing were a pair of Dahlquist DQ-10s and a pair of Linkwitz Orions.

I have 8 pairs of speakers currently in my house, but only 6 pairs which are currently actively being used. Basically I have 6 hi-fi set ups in my house (4 passive set ups and 2 active set ups).

Well, many I think...

Some of the enjoyable sets are...

ESS rock monitors, a set in '74 and a set in '92, a really fun sounding speaker with solid state amps.

Janzen electrostatics, remembering them with '70s acid rock. A Wizard A true star. With Sansui SS amp.

Gallien-Krueger 10" with EV ST350 horn tweeter, really fun listening to Technotronic LP with a Citation amp.

JBL Control 10, sound like you are in a bar.

Bose cubes, put 5 sets in a room, so weird.

KRK K88, punchy. Disabled onboard amp, using powerful push pull with GE 6FW5 Horizontal sweep tubes

Pioneer TAD TSM-300, bought them without hearing them at an AES show. I will bring them to heaven with me, if permitted with the 300 B amp.

4 pair ESS AMT tweeters all around the house. The mid model sounds best.

Lii S-10 full range in stone open baffles, sound better every day using Decware ZEN triode amp.

Lii P-10 full range in Headwrecker cabinets with Elekit TU 8400 and ZROCK3, really wonderful.



Now building a set of Lii audio 8" full range in red marble open baffles, using 300 B amp.
