This issue has been a long standing frustration for me. When i went all digital aI got a MiniDSP SHD Studio having only 3 inputs - aes\sbu BNC, spdif RCA and toslink. Well, for various reasons I later toslink, so that's just 2 inputs. I've got 3 sources and maybe more on the way so I need some kind of expense switch.

IMO any things with digital inputs should recognize that. Old receivers did. What I'd love to see is BNC 1, BNC 2, RCA 1, RCA 1, XLR 1 AND XLR 2 and a couple Toslinks. If MiniDSP and their loot won't put it on they hear them it's an opportunity for somebody to make a proper switchbox. There! I said it! Whadaya think?

1, my Apple TV. All my source selection is via app selection.

Laptop - HDMI
CD player - Coax/spdif
Turntable (Via waxwing) Toslink.

CD Player, Bluray Player, Blutooth receiver, Satellite TV receiver, Edirol R09, Camera HDMI in, Notebooks via USB, Tablet via HDMI, a DIY digital patchbay via SPDIF.

Connected to the rest of the mess via
AudioAuthority Model 1177A
and/or
Focusrite Clarett 4Pre USB

If it is not wireless, RF, or app/mobile-based; I probably use all input interfaces -including ethernet/NAS/Dante- and HDMI but not AES-EBU, in the 4-corners of the house.
Do I win anything?:D

TV on eARC
BR, DVD, Android TV on HDMI
Spotify, DLNA on Ethernet
DAB on radio antenna
And still many inputs free...

Main system (immersive): 4 (AppleTV, Sony 1100ES disk spinner, Mac mini; Parks Audio Waxwing phono pre).

Every other system; 1 (AirPlay2).

Too many...I have more than 10 DAPs and some streamers

Usually two or three per system. Optical disc players, Audio Chromecasts, Fire TV sticks....

RCA switchers work for coaxial. You can even go "more professional" and get those meant for TV yellow cable, but it probably doesn't matter much.

TOSLINK are even better, you can plug both together at the same time and it works as long as all other sources are switched off (silence doesn't work because silence in spdif is a signal)
