How do I activate LDAC on my Tablet?

Obvious the encoder part of LDAC has become part of Android but not all manufacturers implement it.
A workaround is to use a USB-C adapter like the Fiio BT11.
It is a Bluetooth5.4 transmitter supporting
  • SBC
  • aptX/aptX LL/aptX Adaptive/ aptX Lossless/aptX HD
  • LDAC
Thanks for the tip. :)
Could be something for those who, for example, have Sony headphones with LDAC but no LDAC codec in their mobile. For my part. Maybe, it wasn't that expensive, $50. I'm not really hellbent on having LDAC, but I am stubborn about getting it to work. Mostly out of curiosity. I will still use a cable when I listen to music, regardless of LDAC or not.:)

That Fiio BT11 seems small and handy. If it's easy to connect to a device, headphones for example, plus if it has good transmission power/strength, it could be something. Best to check what it works with before buying:

On Sony so try with same AVRCP (1.6) profile. Not even Sony switches it back to 24 bit from 32 so you still have to go to developer options to switch that but probably everyone can live with it at 32 bit (lower compression quality).

I haven't tested that exact setting. When I do, later today or tomorrow, I'll let you know the result. Thanks for the tip.:)

I've had some issues with LDAC in the past and sometimes enabling LDAC in developer options helped, but I had to break the bluetooth pairing and re-pair the devices. So make sure you do that when fiddling with the settings. Who knows, maybe it'll reset the bit that has gone sideways.

In case you are considering a new tablet (obviously try to exhaust every other possibility first) and generally happen to like Lenovo, I am happy to report that my Lenovo Tab Plus does alright with my various LDAC things.

It is possible to set it as you suggest:

BUT it still shows SBC on the DAC's display. I tried restarting the DAC and pressing the remote control to disable the Bluetooth function on the DAC. Nothing happens. Or rather, it says SBC on the DAC's .

If I then exit developer mode and then enter it again, it has automatically changed to the default mode:

So, damn. I'm still struggling with this. Thanks for the tip. :) I'll continue my fight with Lenovo's fu*** technical support after the Easter weekend. I'm not going to burn all my energy on this to get LDAC up and running, but I'm curious and a little irritated now. Plus stubborn, that's why I haven't dropped the LDAC project.:)

Yup, I've tried restarting , and restarting again. All to see if the devices could connect but nope, see my reply to @ZolaIII in the post above.

Thanks for the tip about that Lenovo Tab Plus. :) Maybe so. It seems to cost around $350. That price in itself seems to be ok for a tablet. If the one I have now were to break. As it is now it works, minus the LDAC crap.

Or , really. I don't know if $350 for a Lenovo Tab Plus is a good price? I haven't checked out what the tablet market looks like.

@DanielT if you want new tablet consider this one:
Unfortunately I don't know what's the problem current tablet or DAC it self.
So it could be, something wrong with the DAC's LDAC functionality that is. I don't know if it's that likely because it otherwise works exactly as it should, but of course that possibility exists. When troubleshooting, you have to rule out one thing and another to find the cause.

Thanks for the tip on that Lenovo tablet.:)

Ah, well if restarting doesn't fix it, my Android skills end there.

The Tab Plus price: I think it's in line with other tablets, at that price point there are compromises so some other model will do something better, and something worse. What the Tab Plus does remarkably well is the integrated speakers. I was surprised I can do my violin practise with backing tracks without any external gear, or a violin mute. Of course it does not qualify as a hifi sound, but in the context of tabs, excellent.

I had to buy a new phone because I spilled coffee on my old one and it broke. I chose a bog standard: Samsung A16. It has the features, memory and so on that are more than enough for my needs. On top of that it has the LDAC codec. It now works with my SMSL DAC.:)

Edit:
Next thing to test if it is possible to combine LDAC with this PEQ ..

...plus if I can do a FR sweep with my new mobile and some app that supports it. It may not be top notch but I should be able to remove the worst peaks/ valleys in the bass range. That will be good enough in quality for listening to music in the summer cottage.:)
