How can DAC's have a SOUND SIGNATURE if they measure as transparent?

Yes this treads acts as flypaper, I look in here now and then and add people to my ignore list . It makes the forum far better.

Maybe not this read ( it may have run its course ) but we need a similar tread or sticky . Reminding casual poster of the obvious , that In fact reasonably correctly designed DAC’s does not have a sound signature and can not be told apart by human listeners in under normal listening conditions.

This treads acted as a way to not get the repetitive posting about this in every DAC review, but the audiophoolery got moved here from the review tread .

In a positive spirit, a similar topic need to lay down some basics on how DAC’s works and why they are a solved problem.

DAC’s are so boring that entrepreneurs contort themselves desperately to really make things different, R2R . Filterless NOS ? Bizarre filter schemes that deviates from proven theory

Yes, another mod had mentioned the flypaper (actually smellier) aspect of some threads. It is also how we get to long ungainly threads if nothing is done to manage them. Notably, it only takes one or two members who claim to honor objective evidence up until their opinion matters more. Can tolerate that somewhat in a speaker thread, but not so much in a DAC one.

This thread has the longest list of thread bans I have encountered here. Was going to wait for that savior, but no reason it cannot take a break and will see if that individual materializes.
