How can bogus claims and inferior audio thrive in a competitive market?

Well, My Dad made sure I could hit a target fairly well, but that's the limit of my shooting knowledge. But you see guns with camouflage and extra-rugged features that probably don't have an application for the weekend game hunter or target shooter, not to mention shells that are...overkill.. as well. As for noise, I don't know, but one does hear people go on about the distinctive report of certain guns (Uzis, what was the Soviet one?).
You must be thinking of something like this.

This is simpler. Single shot capacity only.

That looks practical...
Is that a TotalAR?
I don't know. I just did a quick image search for fully accessorised AR15. I knew that would get some interesting pictures. I don't know if they had enough laser sights on them however.

Meaning like the TotalDAC of AR's... That's a mess...

Sometimes it's the simplest designs that work best...

Ok, I let that one fly over my head.

BTW, don't you need at least one laser on that chain saw attachment? I mean there is practical and there is tactical practical.

For you, yes. For others here it is a profession, and something we have spent decades studying and researching. Don't you think archeologists are somewhat annoyed and irritated by creationists?

Oh, sure.

But I also haven't seen creationism disappear despite numerous attempts since, gee, Darwin?

Audio objectivists have been complaining about subjectivist silliness for all the decades I've been in the hobby.

So even if the battle is worth fighting, the tactics (mainly people bitching online in both camps about how stupid the other camp is) aren't working very well.

It's kind of boring to read the same threads and same arguments over and over again.....

If you sell all the analog stuff, speakers and electronics will be roughly 50/50.

Just saying ;)

Why would I do that?

The analog stuff is way more fun and tweaky than the digital stuff, which just works by plugging things in clicking the Roon UI.

As opposed to spending two hours yesterday debugging my turntable after I changed the spindle to one that allows a screw-on clamp and finding that all my records started skipping half way through the sides....

WOW. Granted I own at least half of those accessories but it never occurred to me to put them all on one AR... I guess if you still miss after sighting in the target 7 different ways... you just hit them with what has effectively become a bludgeoning tool? Of course, if you've got the upper body strength to tote those monstrosities around for any period of time... a punch is likely more lethal.

Especially since with all that crap... there's neither a sling nor a carry handle? So you've disabled the advantages and added many new disadvantages (tactically speaking at least). OK.

I guess the audio equivalent would be DAC>PRE>ADC>DAC>PRE>ADC>DAC>PRE>DSP>AMP>SUB>SUB>SPKR? Yep that should sound better.

"Pointing out facts and correcting misinformation gets boring, so let's just go with the flow".

That and there's a fairly large distinction between origin theory and audio reproduction... one can only be analyzed forensically - the other can be in real time (at least until we are able to engineer evolution accurately). As far as discussion and arguments getting boring however, it's pretty easy to just skip over a thread.

Melons are bastards...

Only the cheap ones, I used to criticise melons until I realised good ones cost $240 and have much better pace rhythm and slam and move you forward two rows when eating them.

I've heard that an amazing set can even cost tens of thousands... though how much of the original art remains after post-production is again a matter of subjective taste. :p
