EDIT: a Genelec representative indeed said that jitter in the input signal should not matter (https://community.genelec.com/forum...e_boards_web_portlet_MBPortlet_message_920398).

I don't see need for that kind of device because 8260 has a very sophisticated signal processing when it comes to AES/EBU clock signal. We have carefully ensured that the possible jitter in the signal will be eliminated and doesn't cause any measurable or audible degradation of the signal.

-------------

I did some research on the jittering issue of digital input of Genelec, and I feel probably the jitter in the input AES signal does not matter.

1. discussions on the Genelec forum (https://www.community.genelec.com/forum/-/message_boards/message/913050#/) as well as some others seem to suggest that the speaker will read input signal, figure out the sampling rate, and regenerates a new signal using its own clock.
2. Description of genelec's 2029A (https://www.genelec.com/previous-models/2029a) says "The DA converter inside the 2029A is a professional quality four times oversampling 20-bit delta-sigma converter, with high resilience to clock jitter and excellent linearity." which seems to support 1.

@soundwave76 can you chime in, as I saw you mentioned Genelec's reclocking issue in https://www.audiosciencereview.com/...sh-s-pdif-re-clocker.7006/page-35#post-160288.

I don’t have any info regarding jitter in AES. I highly doubt it being a problem.

P.S. I once had an ADI-2 Pro which I used with 8330 to control the volume. I ended up selling that because volume control via GLM is the best solution and I actually started to prefer my mouse’s wheel to ADI-2 volume knob. You always had to reach far to adjust it vs the mouse which is always in your hand.

thx for the reply! I updated my old post. Looks like indeed this has not been a problem since Genelec produced 8260 ten years ago.

:D I feel mouse wheel is probably easier to reach in my environment than a DAC's own knob.

FYI, I wanted to get a remote (Genelec 9101A) so that I can control volumes while listening in a more relaxed setting (while cooking or dining nearby); it's supposed to be "coming soon" to BH Photo (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1602767-REG/genelec_9101am_b_wireless_volume_control_for.html) but it has been "coming soon" for months so I'm forced to save that money now

^ I have that remote as well. Ordered it once when it was discounted, but I have never even opened the box :)

I'm in somewhat of a similar situation to Cloudreader, but I'm wondering how to connect a PC to a multichannel Genelec setup.

Analog would seem to be rather straightforward, I think, with an Okto dac8 PRO which was very favorably reviewed here at ASR, but how would one connect a PC digitally for multichannel? It seems like there are a lot of options for stereo, but if I'm hoping to put together a 7.1 system with SAM/GLM calibrated and controlled speakers, what do I use?
