So did you end up bothering?Anyway, I'm gonna grab one to test just for fun, as I want to see what it can or can't do.

OP needs something with Digital out:
Looking to add a tiny desktop CD player to my workstation to sit on top of my topping DAC. Hard to find CD players with digital outputs in tiny sizes at reasonable prices.
Sweet! I'm one of those that always bitches about modern gear not have wood cases for them like we used to have.I was also looking to spin some old discs earlier this year. I picked up an old Sony CDP-608ESD off of eBay. Needed a belt change, lube job and the wood sides had a hug chunk taken out of the back right corner. Cleaned it up and have been happily listening to old cds all year.
Just the other day I had some real rosewood panels made. Finished them in super high gloss. No longer original but I’m loving the look.
Did the OP ever pick up the player he was looking at?
I did not. Yours looks great but too big for meI was also looking to spin some old discs earlier this year. I picked up an old Sony CDP-608ESD off of eBay. Wish those first two came without a built in battery for half the priceHere's a couple more CD players with digital out.
This one by Syitren I recently saw on the Fosi Audio website:
The one with wood grain looks cool.
This one comes in white, baby blue and Pink!
And this one, oh this one is the special one, for when She Who Is Desired comes to your place and sees it and asks about it, and you can say, "Well, yes, I am an Audiophile."

I haven't had the nerve to buy any of this. Instead I use an old Sony dvd player with optical out, and you can get a out of date but new one from Amazon.ca for under $50 Canadian, less than half what you would pay for any of the above. And probably better engineering.
One more that looks great:
Hi there, I have a question regarding exactly this matter (though I come more than a year after it was posted, sorry about that)If you want to spend less and buy with a reliable return guarantee, try this. Not finding any small cd player with digital output, I decided to get a small dvd player and pull the digital stream out of the HDMI output using the amazon basic extractor (so I have both optical and coax)
once you send the digital signal to a good dac it just sounds transparentView attachment 271808

Hi there, I have a question regarding exactly this matter (though I come more than a year after it was posted, sorry about that)
I am considering to buy a DVD-player for my CD's to be played on it.
Everyone I've found so far outputs Dolby in digital. However, my DACmagic 100 (Cambridge) only accepts 2 channel PCM.
My question is: even if I play my old CDs on it, will the DVD player send a dolby signal to the DAC? Or will it somehow "downgrade" the digital output?
Any recommendation on a cd player that could do the trick without costing more than 100€?
Thank you very much in advance
Thank you so muchCDs are encoded with two channel PCM, not Dolby Digital. So for playing CDs, the digital SPDIF output (coax or optical) will output in 2 channel PCM only. So you should have no problem there.
DVDs are encoded with Dolby Digital (AC-3). For playing DVDs, the player likely has menu options that allow you to choose whether the output is the unaltered Dolby Digital or converted to 2 channel PCM.
