Another question could be which conditions are important for you to listen optimal to music.

For me:
1. Roomacoustics.
2. Gear
3. Chair
4. Music choice

Add 5. Low background noise, and you have something!

Add 6. Room environment/design where you feel comfortable in.
Low background noise a bit part of roomacoustics i guess.

Well, maybe. I think of room acoustics as room damping etc. independent of where the sound comes from. Certainly some more enthusiastic people have built acoustically isolated rooms to combat external noise.

I listen mostly via my 2 channel system.

I prefer not to have music streaming constantly in the background because for me it turns music in to wallpaper and it sort of kills my desire to listen via my system of I’ve been exposed to music all day.

That’s not to say I don’t stream music. I might stream from our smart speaker while eating lunch or while cooking.

My other main way of listening is in the car. I honestly think I probably have more transcendent, blissful music experiences while driving than anywhere else. I’m not in to car audio per se though. Just have a decent enough system in the car to sound good.

I'm sure both is the correct answer? :)
When I think of critical listening I'm just not sure we're being critical of the music, the performance or the gear....doesn't sound fun.

The poll should have allowed multiple choices.

Please read the description of the poll to understand the aim of the poll and why multiple options not enabled.

In which case you may want to create your own poll.

But it does address why so many polls are not that interesting in the first place just because of the options given.

Next time you make a poll, try add a “None of the above” option or something to that effect.

As I said earlier you have the right to create your own poll and ignore any poll/thread that doesn't agree with you.

I have done a small amount of experimenting with multiple speakers but have gone back to stereo for serious listening because 99.95% of my recordings are stereo or mono.

I may try a better multi speaker system if my experiment with a Genelec 8341 centre speaker is promising enough. I recceived it today.

It's probably in my car. Second is at my desk wearing headphones. Neither are options.
May I ask you to vote your preference? Thank you.
