I worked like a fiend over the evenings this week after I found some scrap walnut at my local hardwood supplier. Let me know your thoughts. I made these using a 6" circular saw, 12" compound miter saw, japan saw, and random-orbit sander. Joined with cheap dowel pin jig and glue. No screws. I haven't fastened the backstop yet; I may not use it at all. Just cut it to length to see how it might look.

I really like them. They have a real MCM look to them. All you need are some of those gold sleeved feet with pivoting/spiked pads like these on the legs:

I do need some little pads with 3/32" of leveling capability. I haven't started looking yet.
