I heard this unit (RS150B) the other day as a friend of mine just bought one. The large display was excellent and I found the sound quality of it to also be quite good. Eversolo DMP-A8 seems to be a direct competitor at half the price.

I'm wondering if any of you had experience with either the HiFi Rose RS150B streamer/DAC or the newer RS130 streamer?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Streamers are ‘done’ a Wiim Pro Plus is audibly transparent ( as good as it gets) so purely down to features/aesthetics .

About 4000 euro for a streamer with display. Why?

Streaming quality is not a real issue, the above mentioned Wiim is fine.

And why do you need a display? For that kind of money you can easily buy an ipad to look at the cover art, right where you are sitting.

Spend your money on room acoustics and speakers - there you can really gain quality in the reproduction of music.

Why even 400$ for a streamer, any small box should be fine.
Yes, that's the case...until we put it into the proper system and found out any commertial streamer on the market is no good as it should, price no objective..

Fooling arround here and there doesn't give any proper conclusion. And concerning the price, of course these days everything is expensive and moves towards luxurious lelves. It's a market that is adopting and demanding nice boxes with crap parts inside in most cases..

Have you ever listened to these two streamers, in the same system, with the same file and delivery chain? I doubt it.
I compared unsighted my Wiim Pro Plus and Eversolo A-8,
If you understand what a digital signal actually consists of and Amir has measured quite a few.

If you understand the technology, there is no need to listen..

Besides, how does one go about listening to a streamer? I listen to music on speakers. The streamer would merely process bits of data.
Ignorance in the false cloak of scientific superiority.

I'm quite certain you'd discern a stark difference between a Wiim steamer a Auralic G2 or Lumin U2,
Then perhaps you'd be able to apply your science to explain the root cause behind those differences.

You might try comparing streamers level matched and unsighted, then get back to us.

The differences are not subtle, Keith--they are in your face. Troubling oneself with AB/X is a waste of timel

I've recently compared the Red Holo to the Auralic G2. In my system, the former is harsh, muffled and eventually much unbearable. It skips occasionally for "good" measure. I'd never spend my customary hour with this kind of sound. It's that unpleasant.

The Auralic, on the other hand, is rich and smooth, once in a while bringing the sound the magical levels.

I wouldv'e loved the Red to perform well; the measures are so promising. And yet...

It's not. Listening blind and level matched is the minimum requirement when auditioning hifi equipment, especially electronics. Don't ignore what some 80 years of scientific research has shown. It could be very revealing, as it was for me, and many others, when night-and-day differences in non-controlled listenings magically disappeared in a properly controlled and unsighted listening. Been there, done that...

‘Not subtle’ one of my favourites on the subjective bingo card.

Plenty of threads on ASR where people have problems with click , pops , DC coupling issues into class D amps , gain issues with analog sources.

As nice as these Eversolo units are , they are not perfect. A good Sinad is not everything.

cheap is not always good.

Good measurements is good, price is irrelevant, all the Eversolo units measured so far have been audibly transparent ie as ‘good’ as it gets.

No need to have experienced the mentioned streamers: I am pretty sure they get the job (streaming files that is) done. The question wether they are worth the money because of the big display, the build quality or the pride of ownership can only be answered subjectively by you. As far as objective performance is most important to you, you can get away a lot cheaper. Have a look at the Wiim Ultra if you are in need of a display: the performance is absolutely flawless.

If you would consider a proper ABX comparison, I am pretty sure, you wouldn't be able to distinguish the Wiim from a Hifi Rose at about ten times the price. Or that you would prefer the Wiim since the measurements were excellent...

So clicking , popping sounds and other issues don’t matter? :/
Seems to be rather important.

Almost always something to do with the user’s set up, rather than the component itself , I have everything Eversolo here no clicks or pops.
There was time when your local hi-fi shop having sold you the equipment would directly address any issues you might have, alas times have changed.
