Hi everyone,

I received the ap80 pro max about a week ago and have been using it every day since. The first thing that stood out to me was the size and weight. It is very compact and easy to carry around, which makes it convenient for daily use.

One thing I was slightly concerned about at first was m4a support, but so far it has been working without any problems and support other formats well too. Most of my listening is done through tidal and files on the sd card, and playback has been smooth and stable. It is currently holding most of my music library, so I have been using it as my main portable player.

If anyone has measurements or longer term experience with this player, I would be interested to hear your thoughts.

I am also looking for iem recommendations under 150 usd that would pair well with it. I am currently using the aria 2 and would like something more balanced, transparent, and resolving. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've not tried the Moondrop Aria 2 so can't comment on it.

Have you tried EQing it yet to taste? If not, I see it's listed on the AutoEQ app, so you could try the settings there first to see if it gets you the sound you're after. All being well, you don't need to buy anything else, unless there's also a comfort issue going on for you.

For 'transparent' and 'resolving', I really like the BQEYZ Winter II and the BQEYZ Spring 2. The piezoelectric driver implementation in both really floats my bloat, and I don't eq either. It should be noted, however, that I only hear up to just over 12khz. If you're hearing goes above this, you might find them a tad 'bright', as does my daughter who is half my age. YMMV of course.

The Winter II is above the budget you mention and only got released at the back end of last year, but the Spring 2, if you can still get hold of it, is just about within I think ( or well in if you can pick it up secondhand like I did).

Thanks so much for the recommendations. I really appreciate the detailed info. I’ll definitely look into both the winter II and spring 2 and see what I can find. And for sure, I’ll give EQing a try as well to see how it shapes the sound to my taste. Really helpful advice and thanks again
