thanks to the help i've received here on ASR, i've finally put together the list of things i need for my first setup.
i've settled on the Elac DBR-62, audiophonics xlr nc252mp based amp, smsl su-8 v2.
Now my problem is I have no idea how to connect these together! since i'm ordering my amp off of audiophonics, i just went on there and sorted by price. below is my shopping list. so the xlr cable i'll need is a female on one end and a male on the other correct? this is to connect the dac to the amp? and i'll need a pair of these correct? then i need some banana plug cables to attach the amp to the speakers correct? are there any specific specs i should be looking for? i've read about wire gauges but some of the thicker ones are more than i'd like to spend, but if i can get any sort of audible difference from the better SINAD i don't mind coughing up a bit more for them. otherwise i've just gone with the cheapest with the lengths compatible with my setup. my speakers will be on stands about 3m apart from each other (the length of my TV console). so i've chosen speaker cables that are 3m each to allow for them to run up the stands. sounds about right?

It appears you have things organized and selected the stuff you need. Does the SMSL SU-8 v2 come with the USB cable for connecting it to a PC? What digital connection(s) will you be using?

You've done great @thetrystero. It's easy to get sucked into spending more than you should on cables and interconnects. All of those options you listed look like solid choices, and should be exactly what you need to get everything connected. The gauge only becomes critical with really long cable runs, for short runs like you've described, those cables would be plenty. Doodski makes a good point, be sure you have the proper digital connection to connect your dac to your source.

Obviously length is the most important part, and order accordingly. You can always use a piece of string, or rope to simulate your setup and cable routing if you have any doubts about the needed length with stands, and then simply measure the string or rope.

The ncore amps are great, I have a nc252mp amp myself and love the smaller form factor. I think you'll be really pleased with the sound you get with the Elacs. I really like that kind of classic retro look of the DBR62 as well.

Be sure and post your thoughts once you get everything setup.

Actually I've yet to figure out how to send my sources in. Currently I'm leaning towards building a pi streamer. My sources will be FLAC over ethernet from a Synology NAS and spotify over WiFi. For TV I think I can just connect that via toslink to the dac.

You'll figure it out. Something to keep in mind is that USB 2.0 is spec'd by the engineering specs to not exceed about ~16 feet. So you can go up to ~16 feet for your USB DAC connection. :D
