Hey there - I need a bit of expertise with one of my clients. Here’s the setting:
New house being built, about to be finished but no real limitations yet in how/where things can be placed, wants a home cinema in the basement.
We are going to do a 150 inch Silver Ticket S7 Acoustc Woven screen with a Hisense C2 Ultra projector and a Kaleidescape+an AppleTV as sources.
So far so good, this is where you guys come in - the sound.
We want to build a fake wall to mount the S7 to and hide the speakers behind it.
My recommendation so far was this:
Build a plateu with the same height as the frame for the fake wall behind the screen and place 3x KEF Q6 Meta vertically as LCRs with 2 SVS 1000 subs in between them. Marantz Cinema 60 for amp and buy Dirac for it. I have a umik-1 I would swing by once its done and help him set it up using that.
Here is the things where Im not 100% sure:
What kind of material to use for the fake wall and for the plateu. I’ve seen DYI “pro” cinema setups like this in youtube but I always wonder how they deal with vibrations etc. Whats the easiest and most affordable way to build something around 20-30 inches off the ground that can act as a skeleton for a fixed screen but also support 3lcrs and 2 subs without any problems or creating shaking noises.
Also, how important are rear speakers in general? Are we cool with a pair of Q1s or do we need the concertos?
Open for any kind of ideas/recommendations etc.
Thank you !
