I'm currently optimizing my setup to eliminate manual signal switching on my RME ADI-2 DAC FS
and minimize interference using Toslink or better technologies.
Both my iPad and PC connect to an dedicated SMSL PO100 Pro, but the automatic Toslink switcher defaults to the PC even when muted.
I've deducted that the SMSL PO100 Pro is the issue as the problem disappears when using my motherboard's Toslink.
Consequently, I'm considering replacing the SMSL with a better decoder.
I'm exploring the fastest methods for signal transmission (latency) via USB to Toslink or I2S.
However, I’ve received advice against using an RME digiface with multiple Toslink inputs due to settings issues reported on the RME forums.
Any suggestions or recommendations for suitable decoders or devices would be greatly appreciated!
But for now I am back to use a plain USB switcher with a USB Isolator on one end.
