Help needed amplifiers for Blade Meta 2

Also, some financially crazy designs come with lots of heat to dissipate. Which does not mean low stress on components.

It picks up sound with a microphone and lights up beautifully.
Since it doesn’t pass through the audio circuit, it doesn’t degrade SINAD.
It also reacts to musical instruments!
finally an excellent subjective piece of audio gear that looks great, does a great job evoking visual cues and does not degrade audio quality. Oh and look, the pricing isn't sky high .

Great find my friend.

To me it seems like there is a simple solution here. First, choose all of the amps that will perform to your standards and are properly engineered. Second, select which one of the group has your desired eye appeal and fits your budget.
we dont like simple solutions ;)

if there's no conflict, where's the fun in life?

Do you have plans to switch to AV receivers like the X3800H in the future? I think it could reduce the number of devices and distractions.
No. I don't see that happening.

I’ve really enjoyed them driven by a Yamaha M-5000 (100-watt Class AB). A friend runs them with an older, recapped Yamaha M-80 (250 watts) and gets excellent results as well. Excellent results on an Access Forte (100 watts)

How was them imagining with them being that close together?

I think the word you were looking for is better "value". :)
Kal probably doesn’t listen at very high levels, so the X3800H’s internal amps should be sufficient. Any hiss would likely be inaudible at lower volumes, though the LS60 might exhibit slightly more noise. He’s simply accustomed to PC-based control, and since it’s convenient for him, I doubt he’ll change his setup.

1. Why would I change what I have for anything different?
2. Why would I care about popular opinion?
I was just feeling mischievous!
I recently switched from a Denon X4700 to a Lyngdorf MP40 + Hypex amps & wouldn’t go back.

Hi @Kal Rubinson, to ask, is the following your experience with the Blade Meta 2 Speakers....
  • The design of the Blade Meta 2 Speakers suggests that they need to be Toed In to/towards the Listening Position, why?, well the Mid/Woofer Drivers are (effectively) Dipole but side to side, not Front to Back. If positioned straight then the inside Drivers will interact with each other (Nulling Effects will and are likely to occur) and the outside Drivers will interact with the side Walls (Nulling Effects will and are likely to occur, due to Reflection/s), is that correct?
  • When Toed In, the inside Drivers will interact (at an angle/reflection) with the Back Wall and provide (forward) L/R Image Centering and the outside Drivers will interact with the side Wall but with a much more forward Reflection, reasonable? Toeing them In will allow them be appear more like Open Baffle but with better Bass (an expectation), especially due to better utiliseation of Side/Rear Reflections, reasonable?
  • With the Rear Vent and Toeing them In then they would need to be positioned at a (appropriate) distance/s from the Rear/Side Walls which if done correctly will allow them to perform like an Open Baffle Speaker, reasonable?
  • If correct, what does the above mean for the Blade Meta 2 Speakers? It can be suggested that some Setup/Positioning time, for Listening Position & Room, will be needed to allow them to perform at their best, especially for a Live End/Dead End (Rear Wall Reflections) approach, reasonable?
  • Hope that you do not mind the asking....

If the woofers were playing the same material out of phase with each other I think there would be the cancellation you're suggesting, but as manufactured bass cancellation isn't an issue.

The Blade 2's reproduce a lot of bass for their size, I imagine that room/system is really fun

Yesterday, I visited my local Best Buy and briefly heard the KEF Blade One Metas connected to a Hegel integrated amp.

It was a very 'crisp' sound and I was immediately impressed with the clarity and soundstage. I did feel that it lacked some warmth - or perhaps that it was a bit shy in the bass. I attributed that to the Hegel but of course, I don't really know. I've heard these very same speakers once before - in the very same room - driven by huge McIntosh monos (MC1.2ks) and I don't remember thinking it was bass shy.

That said, both times were very casual and brief visits.

I did ask the salesperson to play the KEF LS60s which were on the opposite end of the room and even without a sub it presented a more full/weighted presentation with OK instrument separation but nowhere near the same clarity as the Blade/Hegel combo.

I am still leaning towards the Blade 2 Meta but the choice of electronics gives me pause. My wife suggested getting a pair of LS60s just 'to have some source of music in the meantime' but I don't think the LS60s sounded good enough for the price. Not the same room, but I feel my old LS50 wireless sounded better.

It's an 'end game' speaker. Don't hesitate if you have the money and enjoy music and have the space (for those monstrosities).

My guess is any lack of bass/warmth you detected will disappear in room. It's very difficult to control the acoustic presentation of a Best Buy.

The LS60 is a very clear and well-defined speaker, but with the default settings the bass can sometimes feel a bit overemphasized. I recommend adjusting the app settings to dial in a more appropriate bass level. Due to the amplifier’s limiter, it cannot produce extremely high SPL, but I still think it offers excellent value for the money.

Try to get a home demo. I know KEF claims the speakers can be placed 9'' away from the front wall, but overall room size will matter and I expect the Blade 2m will be large enough for most. My room's 17x27x7' and the original Blades sound best pulled several feet away from every reflective surface. Fortunately my wife gave me the basement. I heard the Blade 2 m in a 16 or 18x18' room and bass was organic and surprisingly strong for the room, so strong in fact that the dealer quit demoing the pair because everyone{except me} that listened decided on the Ref 3 or other smaller box for a more balanced tone. Your miles may vary and take it or leave it, but source will affect how tight/clean the bass will sound in your system. I bought mine used to be safe.
