Help me replace my Genelec 8341's for the sanity of my beloved wife

Lets just say, for arguments sake I went with either the KEF R3 Meta or Concerto META. Any recommendations on what to power them with? I'm a big fan of Class D in a small form factor......
I wouldn't mess around, just look for a Purifi Eigentact amp, since you're no longer in Europe, maybe from Buckeye Amps.

An alternative to changing or hiding your speakers is to share this thread with your wife... to show your wife how lucky she is to have you.
There are some seriously dedicated Genelec folks out there. I couldn't abide by any of these rooms from an aesthetic standpoint.

I am not convinced that there is a miracle set of speakers out there that would solve the issue without doing anything else.
Sure there are :) One of these will probably fit right in:

But seriously, instead of asking us to advise a divorce ;), better ask your wife what would be acceptable to her? If you had various speakers already, ask which one she liked best, go online and find similar models to get a grasp on what would fit. That would probably narrow down the options considerably and may yield something you can both live comfortably with.

Hahahahaha! The comment about the wallpaper is absolutely brilliant!! :D

You're right of course, it is real mixed bag of different styles and shapes and it Just does not work which is why we are going for the media wall to try to shake things up a bit.

Another problem is actually selling them for a fair price then having to go through the entire process of packing them up and shipping them out.....it's a royal PITA doing all that!

It's possible no matter what speakers you select they won't meet wife approval. I would make sure she approves any replacement before moving ahead. If she is hesitant no matter what you select, maybe it's time to move your listening to a room that's mostly for your use, like an office or basement. If none of that works consider getting her approval to add a room to the home as your listening room.

I'd work out a way to hide the speakers with acoustically transparent cloth. I sincerely doubt you're going to find anything that sounds better in such small quarters. Honestly, I think your wife is being unrealistic. And the speakers themselves have little to do with what is making that corner of the room less than aesthetically pleasing. If you love the sound of those speakers, work out an arrangement where your wife doesn't have to look at them. And while you're at it, get some better-looking wallpaper.

I would suggest to have someone sew some loose covers for your speakers, like they do with chairs. You can still take them off during serious listening sessions.

Yeah, I think hiding them within the upcoming media wall is the way forward. I really love these monitors, they're like nothing I've heard before and am reluctant to let them go.
I could really make this work. They would be completely out of sight. Genelec even do an "in wall" kit so they would be completely hidden.....

That damn wallpaper!! :D

and in-wall is a better position than near wall (acoustic wise) if I recall correclty

Also, it would be less of a PIA than selling the Genelecs, losing money on the sale, buying new speakers and then finding out the wife doesn't like those either.

What about some sort of scrim for them? A frame with grill cloth like these hideous Gallo speakers uses to make them look decent? You don’t have to touch the speakers at all. They still retain their value.View attachment 405027View attachment 405028

You think those speakers are hideous but you live with the room you showed us? Ha!

Note that I'm not posting photos of the state of this house right now. Anyway, taste is personal of course. And the covers are quite clever/effective I agree. But I mostly regret not buying (or at least listening to) a pair of those that came up second-hand nearby. Too slow ...

Honestly it's so hard to find a good sounding speaker which gives you joy for hours. Currently the speaker placement is not ideal either and it will sound worst whatever you put there because -probably- it will be not a coaxial or/and just have a port on the back side.

I would remodel that room as soon as possible then add a whole false wall for the tv and hide the speakers.

My situation is not easy either. I have speakers with 18" woofers but they're flush with the main cabinet and optically integrates well. Let's say more acceptable this way.

I've been showing pictures of speakers to my wife as I'm looking for new in the living room. On a lark when I asked what she thought of these 8361A she said " now those are unique, I love em , better than all those freaking boring boxes you've been showing me. "

The minute my wife let "cute" slip out of her mouth with regard to the LS60s I was already inquiring with the seller on US Audio Mart. :D

I say act while you can.

Show her the ls50 meta the ls60 is way overpriced for its sound quality. You already have subs so the only shortcoming of the ls50 is covered.

I was actually trying to sell her on the LS50 metas, she didn't really like how they looked or fit in with the room. The LS60 works with the decor because 1) they're quite narrow and 2) I have the blue ones sitting in front of a similarly colored blue wall, so they don't offend the eye much at all.

And I also have a couple KC62s toward the back of the room to even things out, so I am pretty happy with what I was able to get away with in the living room.

Big subs and Genelecs in the office because I have a bit more of a free hand with decor there. :)

Yeah, she was really upset when I introduced them. We had some major fall-outs to be honest. I stuck to my guns though but I can't keep it going. It just isn't fair on her at all.
On a positive note, I can enjoy looking at other speakers again. :)

See attached, they just don't work in this sort of house at all. Ignore the image on the screen. My son is playing games....
Given the pic shows a real space constraint, maybe some white LS60s?

Alternately I think the MoFi stuff deserves a look as another credible coax with wood finish.

But if you are a KEF fan the new concerto stuff looks promising.
